Please please PLEASE let this game be good. The Witcher is one of my favorite RPGs ever, and because I don't want to build a new PC, I had to pass on The Witcher 2. I just hope this isn't fucking broken as hell like Risen was (even though I loved that game on 360).

You are literally the only person I interact with that has had bugs with that game (or at least, game breaking bugs). But still, I agree with the sentiment.

God I love European RPGs. Makes me miss old school Western RPGs. I just died because of a conversation choice and it was AWESOME.

Wouldn't that just mean you would have to reload your last checkpoint and pick a different dialogue option?

              Pardon my ignorance.

At its crux, yes that is what it is, but it goes a little deeper than that at the same time. Certain choices have long standing consequences, so you might survive a conversation check that then causes a later conversation check to be more difficult depending on the characters opinion of you.

Everything about "dying" in video games is a reload (didn't you yourself say you hated the idea of the hardcore mode in Bioshock Infinite? -- it's all a reload because in most cases no reload would be no fun)...I just like that there are some developers out there willing to make actual consequences for your your actions. I have 10 dudes wanting to kill me and I say the wrong thing? They kill me. It isn't a case of there is no wrong answer and I murder everyone in my path as always. They haven't perfected the idea by any means, but they're trying which is more than I can say for just about 99% of other games being made.

shit i used to always reload after a choice in games so i could how the other choice may play out. games like ME have choice that give an imediate result...which is usually pointless either way. But to this games credit, the choices dont take effect until much later so your kind of forced to live with your decision.

glad your enjoying it so far seth

The only thing I am not really feeling about this (other than not having a good grasp on the big picture which is my own fault for not playing the first) is how tedious some of the sidequests are so far. I don't mind a lack of handholding at all but when a quest requires repetitive searching without any direction it gets a little annoying.

                    Everything else is great though.

For those that missed it in the Good Deals thread...

Also, for those that don't know, you can get $30 off of The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition for Xbox through their Reward Zone site by printing a coupon or more conveniently by using their smartphone app. With the Reward Zone app all you have to do is "claim" the offer and it automatically links the discount to your RZ card. The cashier scans your card, and then the game and it will only be $10 since it retails for $40. I got my copy an hour ago.

downloaded this from amazon again (digital dl i bought) to give it another try. 16 gb game...plus 10 gb in patches....fuck.

anyways, still has some quirks, but it seems to be running much better now. plus it seems this is the enhanced version of the game, but for pc...idk
im enjoying the story again too....played the prologue then found a game save from nexus mods that has a variety a saves from witcher 1 with all the choices and whatnot. the save can be imported ME style. also got some cool new loot too. so i started the game over again

im actually quite into it this time around but cant wait to get done with this prologue

still playng through this. on Act 1 still but killed the big krakar monster. i dont know if i didnt have all the patches or if new patches have improved the game, but i am not seeing any of the issues that plagued the game for me last time i tried to play. its a really enjoyable story. im getting more powerful now, so the magic is really strong. the combat feels kind of clunky though

finally done with chapter 1....felt like forever since i tried playing this game 3 or 4 times before getting about halfway thru the 1st chapter.

alot of dialog in this game. story is good, but kind of hard to follow cause there is so much being introduced at one time.

no idea how any site rated this a 9. with as un-polished as it is and clunky combat...nothing more than a 8 or even 7.5

Finally fired this up last night after getting it for $10 (thank you Best Buy) sometime last fall. They throw a lot at you very quickly in the tutorial and that was a bit overwhelming, but once I got a couple hours in, it really started to pull me in. Just got done with the flash backs in the prologue and I'm through that very first part of chapter 1 when you're in the forest and come across the archers. Can't wait to fire this up again today Oh, and I also received my Witcher 3 Game Informer yesterday.
