[ALL] The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

Watching it on Justin and some previews...the game looks great.

    Pretty good value for $49.99

It is a PC game and I know that doesn't go over well in VSN Land. Wondering if anyone had it and what are their thoughts.

It's also coming out for consoles and from what I've gathered through previews and vids online, it might be a decent action/RPG game.

You collect stuff, fight monsters, turn in loot and progress towards multiple endings depending on the choices you make.

Also, there's fuckin' if that's all you want in a game.

RPGs are always so damn boss.

Edit its funny I always say that yet I haven't yet played Dragon Age, Fallout, Oblivion, Borderlands
Lost Odyssey nor Alpha Protocol. Really Mass Effect is the only RPG I've played on these newer consoles.

I love European designed RPG's, very mature and adult oriented. They don't go all "PC" like North American games and aren't stupid spiky hair emo faggots like Japanese ones.

I'll probably leech it in the next little bit cause I'm too poor to buy it.

I think at this point it's more just a wish on their part. I have not heard anything confirmed as of now. I'd honestly be surprised if it made it to consoles after the fate of the first one.

I am remembering why I don't like PC gaming..So I install the W2 last nite and it all went fine and dandy (30 mins). I checked the graphics options and the auto detect said they recommend high based on my CPU (AMD Quad Core, 4GB RAM, 1 GB Graphics card). So I said cool...lets try it on high. No go...so I try it on medium....still studdering like a motherfucker. I guess bad frame rates....very laggy...But it looked good.

So I go to find out that Nvidia has some beta drivers you must use with the witcher....so I download them and while better......still unplayable. FUCK!

What a waste of time...now I have to go check out some crazy forum somewhere and do some research to see whats up. The one thing I question is the running in 1920 by 1080....this may be the problem but it was 1 am and I was done...already wasted an hour. I know my graphics card is low end but I still should be able to run on medium setting i think.....sigh.

Well I am all up and running....apparently it was my resolution. My graphics card could not handle that game in 1920x1080. Running on med settings on 1280x720. Game runs and plays great. Hardcore RPG but very mature audience. I will probably never beat it but from what I have played it is fun and challenging. There is no way they release this game like this on a console...they will have to dumb it down.

A nice bit of info came out today...

Let it forever be known that there is absolutely such a thing as getting a little too cute with your E3 teases. I adore it when developers drop little hints about things they plan for the show, while maintaining a certain level of surprise-protecting secrecy in the process. It builds hype. It's fun. I like fun.

However, maintaining that Goldilocksian balance of "just right" for such teases is difficult, as evidenced by this recent bit of info dropped by a developer from CD Projekt, the studio behind the delightfully lurid Witcher RPG franchise. In speaking to Eurogamer, Senior Producer Tomasz Gop told the site that something Witcher-related is on the horizon for E3. Okay, so far so good. So, what delectable little hints can you drop for us, Tomasz?

"I can't say anything obviously for gazillions of reasons but it is a Witcher game, and I can say that console gamers might be interested in it."

Wow, okay, so that's a bit of an info dump. Not a tease, really. More of a, "Hey, we're doing a console Witcher thing." But hey, at least that leaves some info to chance. Could this be a console port of the studio's just released The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings? Or perhaps it's an announcement of a third Witcher game, which could also be coming to cons--

"No, I'm not going to lie to you, we haven't started work on The Witcher 3," he said. "But it's possible we might do it in the future."

SIGH. Fine. It's probably a console port of Witcher 2. Way to say pretty much everything by trying to say nothing, Tomasz. You've spoiled all my fun. I LIKE FUN.

On the plus side, hey! Now there's probably going to be a console version of The Witcher 2. Now maybe Patrick will quit all his infernal bellyachin'.

                          LOL at PC gaming.

I just like being able to put a disc in my console and start playing.

Looks like you might be able to do that with The Witcher 2 in the near future.

And to be fair, I still have to install new games to my 360.

Installing a game to a consoles hard drive is not anywhere near the same thing as adjusting resolution settings, video card settings, RAm, blah blah blah. Not...even...close.
