Players have more then one trait, and will help the AI. Take the example they used for Ovey, who normally would sit and wait till his team touched the puck to know "hey we are on offence." Now he moves ahead of the action, anticpating what will happen.
Plus these are "traits", not blueprints set in stone. So they will do this stuff sometimes, not all the times.
