Did this have the code in it to prevent people from buying it used and playing online? Last year Madden had it and I wanted to know if NCAA copied them.

Yeah dude, where have you been? EA instituted this policy early last year and it will be in all their games from here on out. Even games that don't have an online component have the EA "Online Pass", IE Alice: Madness Returns.

Thanks. I'm about to sell me old PS3 and get this. I've loved this game the last two years.

Features- I wasn't really hyped up for the new features ahead of time but they really do have a good feel about them. They don't do them perfect really, but they do them well enough to make a difference. For example the custom playbook's menu's and layouts aren't the easiest to navigate but the feature is great.

Gameplay- If you played a shit ton of 11, it will definitely feel the same. With the right sliders(Varsity ones on OS), the game really plays one of the best games of football EA has ever produced. But there are some things EA just can't get right. Crowd noise stinks, home field advantage isn't there, still no PI penalties(probably never see them on this engine). Also the passing game is very easy but again with the right sliders, it is manageable. I only play with ND and their spread, so I can't speak about heavy option playbooks and how they work. Commentary stinks. Really really really really stinks. Smells bad.

CPU- The computer really plays a good game for the most part. Any weakness noticed can be fixed with sliders. Quarterbacks do actually scramble.

Cons- The less publicized issues that plaque EA football for years are still there. No pass interference calls, commentary, poor punt return blocking, and super linebackers. Also if you are a offline guy, you have to breathe life into the modes to bring them to life. They aren't going to blow you away and keep you intune with everything else going on in the mode. Also while the game looks great in replays, in game the visuals leave a lot to be desired. No 3d grass, players don't look smooth, field doesn't look smooth. It looks like NCAA11, which isn't bad, but it really sticks out when you see the replays and how good it could look.

Dynasty mode- I love dynasty mode. Always have, probably always will. Nothing really new here. The coaching carousel is nice, but I never planned to use it. It was kind of cool to watch the coaches move around at the end of the season. IF anything it does bring some more realism to the mode. Everything else is basically the same except you can customize anything. Players, Teams, Coaches, Conferences, Recruits, whatever. If you see something that used to bug you in years past, like a 5 star MLB being 5'8 192lbs, then just change that to be more realistic. If you think some players are overrated, underrated, whatever just change them.

RTG- I really did enjoy the high school part of RTG. Playing my former schools, anticipating the end of the game to see who is interested in me next, it really was exciting. But once I got to a 5 star rating at game number 9 in the season and had offers from every single school in the country, it lost it's steam. Like it has been said before it doesn't really feel like you are a part of the team, and it really only works for the glamour positions. It is basically tasks after tasks just to move up the depth chart(coach trust). The defensive camera can be shitty at times especially for the secondary, and with the lack of suction, it can be hard being the right position with the camera moving around. I was a RB/OLB. 5 star RB and 3 star OLB. Won the state championship and chose to play RB at Florida with Charlie Weis. I got to be the starter in 5 games, only played 2 more then haven't touched it since.

Online- Haven't played online. Some say the servers stink.

I am pleased with the game. Probably because I get to play my Notre Dame dynasty again and it means College Football is starting up. But if you played 11 a lot, have no real allegiance to college football, and are just tired of the same old same old EA football, I would probably pass on this game.

                    To Maynard:

I can't speak on Dynasty, as I haven't even touched it.

As for the gameplay, I think this year's game is actually a big improvement over NCAA 11. It may not have the "back of box" features to make it seem much different, but the complete absence of suction and the new physics & momentum engines are a HUGE net gain. You don't have any bullshit blocking anymore where guys warp 10 yards to block you right before you get a sack and the inside running game actually works now.

On defense, zone D is much improved, although still a bit wonky at times. It's tougher to get your yards on the higher difficulty than it was in the past and I haven't really seen any "money plays" (yet).

Online, games are smooth as long as your network is optimized. I'd always recommend playing wired-in, but I've been using wireless (current living situation prevents me from being wired) and only had real lag issues in one game (out of ~10).

RTG is where I've been spending all of my time. They have introduced a lot of cool ideas and features to the mode, but they aren't implemented terribly well this year. I like having a Senior season in HS and the fact that you can import your HS and all your opponents from TeamBuilder. I was able to import every school on my HS's real-life 2011 schedule and it was a trip to play against the "real" schools. Playing as an Ironman (offense and defense) in HS is neat, but you play less both ways so it can be frustrating.

I also like the RPG elements they've added once you get to college. "Coaches Trust" is a nice idea (you can gain "abilities" through "leveling up" your trust), but they made the leveling WAY too easy. You could easily be a "Team Leader" halfway through your Freshman season most of the time. They have also added "Skill Upgrades" where you can use the XP earned in practice and games to give yourself one-game boosts and career boosts to your ratings. Once again, it isn't balanced properly and it's easy to make your player 90+ OVR in their Freshman season. My HB was only a 3-star and came to college as a 79 OVR!

The absolute WORST part about RTG is the playcalling. It's absolutely horrendous and makes it tough to play until you gain "Trust" and are granted the ability to choose a different play (out of three pre-selected ones). My team called a Hail Mary on the opponent's six-yard line and we constantly run screen passes and PA when backed up against our own endzone. As I said, the frustration is lessened with the ability to change plays and (I imagine) it's not as big of a deal if you play on defense.

Well, I broke down and picked it up.

I will put it in after the Tigers game but, should I download the patch?

TCU's 4-2-5 defense is the shit. I wish some NFL team ran it as their base defense so I could use it in Madden 12. I have strongly disliked NCAA games before this one, but this game I have enjoyed very much so.
