I just checked that thread over at OS and the overwhelming amount of posts agree that it is bullshit. There are a few outspoken morons that keep preaching how it is a good idea though.

i dont think this is such a bad idea from EA perspective. there is a market for it and it will make them money

As shitty a deal as this is I cant get mad at EA. Idiots will pay for it. Its not like the decision you have to make with the full retail game, buy it or have no football to play at all. With this shit, dont buy it and wait 3 days for the full POS to release so you can play it when you want.

Where have you been the last decade? EA's pockets are too deep.

The NFL doesnt care if they make good football games. They only care that they are willing to pay a steep price for being able to make these rehashed games every year.

What would happen if you downloaded the game early and then set your clock back in time a year? Do you think EA is smart enough to have solved for that by coding in a date range for valid play?

EA is sticking there toes in, testing the waters, seeing how far they can go charging extra. I don't really care about this particular charge because it's optional and doesn't contain anything necessary to play the full game.

I just fear for the future.

I already got one guy I know who is buying it, and mostly because he wants the 20% off DLC shit. To him, getting NHL and Fifa 3 days early is just an added bonus. I tried to tell him that bascally you would have to spend $125 (non discount price) to make that $25 original purchase worth it.

He then told me spent $100 last year on HUT packs, and I just couldn't shake my head enough after that. He asked why I was so pissed about it all, and I said because (in terms of HUT in NHL) that entire mode is no use to me and not because it sucks to play, but rather because people like him spend tons of money buying packs of players, and when I enter a fucking rookie tournament, I'm up against people who have Thoront/Crosby/Stamkos as their first line, while I'm sitting here with AHL scrubs. I played 40 offline games to get a 'base roster' to work with and grow, but I was still so far behind guys who just buy shit, so that entire mode is fucked for me to even play. So I pay my money for the retail game and one part of the game I can't even play.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

                      "rammer" and "cummings"

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.

I swear OS is so intolerable. No matter what EA does, no matter how much of a joke it is, the exact same people are in every thread defending it. Everytime. Some of them have connections to EA, like through the game changers program. Some of them are just regular guys who for whatever reason think it makes sense to be a fanboy of a video game company.

This is our fault though as gamers. This is what happens when EA does things like offer uniforms as pre-order "bonuses" or paid DLC and people run out and buy anyway. This is what happens when EA leaves out game features and offers them as DLC. This is what happens when they nickle and dime everyone for years and people just bend over and ask for more.

This shit should have been put to an end years ago, but EA already knows there's enough clowns who will run and and get this the second it becomes available.

                            EA on business level: 10/10
looking at EA as a gamer: 1/10

OS is even worse than I remember. I made a post disagreeing with a guy when he said he would be able to get Madden 12, NCAA 13 and Madden 13 early and that would be worth it to him. I told him that knowing EA even though it says FULL YEAR it will probably expire just before NCAA 1313to comes out. He responded with some assanine argument that he normally spends $20 extra to have Madden shipped to him early so this isn't any different. So he defended this practice because he's a fucking idiot? Then of course a handful more guys quote him saying it was the best post in the thread. LMAO.

It also doesn't surprise me that Guadagnino, formerly SlizeezyC, is a major contributor over there. What a self righteous douche that kid was at MM.

Yeah the rationalizations they use over there are hilarious.

Hey you know what? $25 dollars is just a lapdance and budweiser at the local strip joint, so I have no problem spending that money to play madden a few days early. Hell last year I hopped on a jet and went to mexico just to scoop the game up 4 hours before release! This is nothing.

Or my fav about EA withholding features from the game and offering them as DLC: It's like when you go buy a car and you want a sunroof, the sunroof is gonna cost extra! This feature is the sunroof, I'll happily pay for that.

The weird thing is it's clear most people don't like these things, their poll shows 75% of people dislike it, with 15% on the fence. Yet that 10% who love it are so vocal and adamant about defending it.
