September 22, 2009 - Microsoft announced a special $50 mail-in rebate offer for those who purchase an Xbox 360 Elite from now until October 5. That means that the newly announced price cut to $299 is now even easier to swallow.

All you need to do is head out to your local game retailer, purchase an Xbox 360 Elite system, head to this website and follow the directions to get your rebate. All those hoping to cash in on the offer will need to mail the required documents (UPC code, original receipt, etc…) by November 20, 2009.

The press release also has a note about the Elite functionality with the upcoming Natal, saying, "And, as announced earlier this year, the Xbox 360 you buy today will work with 'Project Natal' and controller-free gaming in the future."

Just thought I'd pass along that the 360 deal doesn't end with just a rebate. Toys r us and microcenter are offering additional deals. Microcenter is offering an additional $50 gift card, in store only.

As another option, if you have a brick and mortar microcenter in your city, Best Buy may pricematch. The results on that are mixed. Seems to depend on the BB store. Some have given a BB gift card, some have just taken $50 off, and some won't do it.
