[ALL] South Park: The Stick of Truth

Trey Parker and Matt Stone hooking up with Obsidian to make a South park RPG. Not sure of the consoles, yet.

Game Informer has "the first look": http://www.gameinformer.com/b/featur...-the-game.aspx

If it's an action RPG I'll be all over it. Turn based? You can suck my balls like Cartman.

Saw this in Game Informer. IIRC, it's turn-based, but still looks fucking sick.

They say it will be similar to Paper Mario RPGs in that it is turnbased, but button presses during an action have major impacts on the fight itself.

Yeah, Patrick Klepek was saying on the Giant Bombcast that it is apparently modeled after the earlier Final Fantasy games. Fuck that.

                    Zero interest now.

You realize there is little to no difference between a typical Action RPG (like say, Deathspank or Diablo) and a typical Turn-Based RPG?

Uh, yeah there is. I enjoy actually controlling my character when I fight an enemy. Not "enter a battle" and let my stats determine what happens as I watch basically a cut scene.

You control them in the same exact way though. You aren't performing a combination of buttons, you're repeatedly mashing the "A" button to attack over and over, and if your level isn't high enough you die. There is a strategy element that is pretty much the same in both, the only difference is one is faster and one is slower. Your stats determine everything in both games.

But this is an argument that you've failed to grasp before so...yeah.

I'm not the biggest fan of Turn Based RPG's but there are a few exceptions like Final Fantasy 7 and 8. But Twigg this is fucking South Park.

Maybe you are "failing to grasp" that I have zero interest in those types of shitty games? I'm sorry, but whether I'm repeatedly pressing a single button, or I'm using spells, blocking, etc. I"M FUCKING DOING IT. If I die it's my fault, not just some random shit the computer decides happens. And please don't start with your bullshit "Well, actually everything in any game is ultimately determined by the computer." Shut the fuck up with that noise. I have no idea why you feel inclined to convince me that games in the style of Japanese RPG's are good. I fucking hate them and will never change my mind.

Yeah, it's a shame. Since Seth wanted to mention it, if this game was like DeathSpank or Torchlight or Dungeon Hunters, plus South Park, I'd be all over it. But I don't care what the license is, I have absolutely no interest in that style of game. I literally despise and loathe these games. Final Fantasy 7, which is supposed to be on the greatest games of all time, made me want to gouge my eyes out.

The fact that Trey Parker and Matt Stone apparently love these style of games actually makes me like them a lot less.
