For those of you that enjoyed this game, another game that's similar in story is Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. Its game-play is kind of the exact opposite of this since the world is so bright and beautiful and its a lot of hack n slash mixed with platforming, but the relationship between the two characters isn't as well done as it is here, but still very fucking good. I highly recommend you give it a look.Comment

Better Question: Why don't you have it by now?
The answer is YES if you have the ways and means of doing so.
On another note, I'm about DONE with this fucking Hotel.
Every time Joel decides to to take a shortcut, I end up on another terror ride and want to stop playing because my nerves are shot.Comment

Out of the Hotel and finally out of the city...
At this point, unless there's 3 or less Hunters/Clickers/Infected running around, I'm giving up hope of stealthing my way through this first playthrough.
I know there's the audio cue that lets you know you have a few seconds before shit starts to go down and Joel goes McGruber on some fools.
EX:
Meeting the other two survivors and then peeling through the sewer section was a breeze up until I left the area.
As I've found out early on that during one of the many "survive as long as you can before the cutscene hits/you dwindle the NPCs down to zero" portions of the game...
After you hit a certain quota, the game lets you continue on with less enemies to fight if you died near an autosave.
...it ruins the tension a little (that and the enemy NPCs can't see anybody other than Joel).
I'm over it now and it's time to find a certain tower everybody keeps telling me about.
Gonna need more fluid, rags, tape and sharp metal soon. :/Comment

Yeah, just as I was saying online has been such a pleasant experience and also ruins so smooth, we encounter serious dickheads in the first match you and I play together. Then a couple people (me included) get booted form a match and I also had the game freeze on me. I'm wondering how that is going to shake out because it was during one of those days where like 60% of my population was being risked. I guess I'm fucked because the game froze on me?Comment

Just finished the game
Also, one other thing about the final chapter. Spoilers abound of course.
This review really made me contemplate the scene that the reviewer bases a lot of her final score on. Now, I can absolutely disagree with her about the 8/10. For reference she also did a three page review on Infinite and gave it a 10/10 so obviously she and I have very different opinions on games.
Her biggest issue was the scene in the operating room. She says that she was completely pulled out of the experience because instead of ND just giving us a cut scene they let up play that scene out and she decided to shoot the doctors and nurses in the feet and they still died. So basically, there was no choice at all and even if you slightly deviate from what you think the only choice is it breaks the game because the doctors and nurses will die even if you just shoot them in the foot.
Personally, when I got to that part I was so invested in the game and Joel's character that I barely hesitated and thought "Ellie is my adopted daughter now. I'll do anything for her and she doesn't deserve to die even if it means finding a cure/vaccine for this plague." I immediately shot all the medical staff in the face and didn't look back. Several people responded to her review with the same thoughts I had but her response was always the same "But ND didn't give you a choice. It shoud've just been a cut scene." I agree that they didn't give you a choice but I also think that it was on purpose and when you reached the point you should feel there's no choice and do exactly what I did.
Did anyone else treat the scene differently? Did you want to spare them? I'm legitimately curious because I thought ND did an amazing job of putting me in the position I was in where I didn't think twice. In almost any other game I'd want to be the "good guy" per se.i went a somewhat different route and stabbed the doctor in the neck with the knife he picked up instead of shooting himComment
