    [ALL] Dead Space 3

I don't think a thread has been made for this yet, but I figure now might be a good time to start one up with the revelation that the next DS game is expected March 2013.

Also, IGN just posted some rumors about the next game including a drop-in, drop-out online co-op feature and other info about weapon changes and enemies.

This is one of my most anticipated games in a long time. Dead Space is one of my favorite series of all time.

This is one of the greatest Next Gen franchises and in my opinion reinvented the survival horror genre. Will be a day one purchase for me.

If any of you have slept on the first two games, gamefly it up. You will not be disappointed. The only game that literally made me jump numerous times.

I wonder if the addition of a partner will hamper the experience a bit.

That's my concern. Although with the direction Dead Space 2 went in, maybe not. I didn't find it as scary as 1 (or scary at all, really). It was just such a much better game though (gameplay wise), I didn't care.

One of the rumors is that some of Isaac's hallucinations won't appear if you have a co-op partner with you.

                  Game Informer Details
                  • Co-op confirmed
                  • No competitive multiplayer
                  • Now has universal ammo pickups
                  • Cover system added
                  • Unitologists pose a threat now, the screens look like they're shooting at Isaac while he's taking cover.
                  • Co-Op will add new cutscenes and interactions between Isaac and Carver, "if you play single player you'll hear everything you need to hear to get the whole story."
                  • "Dead Space 3 will have zero gravity space sections, dark corridors, and all the other things that made the series what it is"

                  • New Necromorphs called Fodder, Feeders & something Visceral internally calls 'The Snow Beast' plus a huge 30 story tall centipede necromorph called the Nexus.
                  • Feeders are "what happens when a human isn't actually infected by a Swarm or by a Divider head, but by necessity ends up eating the flesh of a turned Necromorph"
                  • Icy Planet is called Tau Volantis,
                  • Fodder transform into two different Necromorphs depending on how you kill them
                  • Ammo drops are more plentiful
                  • They want DS3 to be less linear than 2&1; be able to explore large environments and find "unique beta missions" that aren't required to complete the main game
                  • You can slap different guns together like a Plasma cutter/Ripper combo, Visceral didn't say "how exactly these weapon mods work" but GI noticed enemies drop Scrap metal and 'Tungsten' now.

I thought this tidbit was interesting: you won't have an AI partner (à la RE5) if you decide to play single player. So if you want a more atmospheric and traditional Dead Space experience, you can just turn co-op off.

I'm definitely going to play through alone and then go back and do co-op. Feel like that'll be the better way to experience it.

That what I was tlking about on the Podcast...

Dead Space is all about that solitude.....then you n a buddy can rape Necromorphs like jaydizzle at a chuck-e-cheese

These games are absolutely amazing. Theres nothing more fun than turning off the lights and playing this at midnight. Hopefully they can keep the game fresh and dont do the resident evil and just try and duplicate the previous game (in my opinion). The first one had me jumping, and the return to the Ishimura on the second one had me all giddy. Please EA keep the scares fresh and dont make it so its a shooter.
