I'd also like to add that on the astro A40's the boom mic can be placed on either side. I prefer to have mine on the right side and most headsets have them on the left. You can also turn any wired headset to wireless using just the mixamp device which is sold separately.

i dont know, just always preferred it being on the right side. no specific reason behind it

I had the XP500's but since they operate on 2.4 GHZ I was having interference issues from my router so I returned them and bought the Astro A40 with mixamp. Best set I have ever had and it works for Xbox,PS3, and PC. I think I paid $299 for these with a rechargable battery and the best thing about these are they operate on 5 GHZ frequency which all but eliminates any popping noises caused by interference

My friend has these. Jizz. However, I can't justify spending $300 on a pair.

Maybe we will see when I get my signing bonus in September.
