Pre-ordering Medal of Honor: Warfighter on Origin will gain buyers access to the Battlefield 4 beta, according to an advertisement on EA's digital distribution service. This is interesting considering EA and DICE have yet to make a Battlefield 4 announcement of any kind, and because Battlefield 3 downloadable content will continue until March 2013.

Clicking through the pre-order button yields no additional information about Battlefield 4, nor does the official Battlefield website.

While EA hasn't actually announced Battlefield 4, the idea of a sequel is hardly a surprise for the Battlefield series. Battlefield 3 continues to sell well and more than 800,000 people have signed up for Battlefield Premium.

Rumors of new Battlefield games have been swirling for some time now. Electronic Arts president Frank Gibeau confirmed Battlefield 4 in an off-handed comment last year, and Battlefield Bad Company 3 appeared on an employee resume recently. In addition, a retailer listed a title called Battlefield Evolved back in March.

We've reached out to EA about Battlefield 4 and will update with any comment we receive.

I think they've said they are going to alternate between Medal of Honor and Battlefield every year, so yeah, pretty much the COD route.

They have new BF3 content coming through March '13. Will be interesting to see if they extend it to next summer.

The only thing I can hope for is that its Battlefield 2143.

EA To Show Off Battlefield 4 Soon

EA will be showing off the latest installment of DICE's acclaimed Battlefield series within the next few months, the company revealed in an earnings call last night.

Frank Gibeau, president of EA labels said that while the publisher isn't ready to go into specifics, more information will be coming along within the 90 days or so. That puts it in April, at the longer end of things.

EA also discussed the fate of its ailing Medal of Honor franchise in the same call. In short, that one's going on ice for a while.

That's already pretty much what it is. If COD can get away with charging $60 every year, there is no way they would do that with Battlefield.
