I like the idea of joining a league, but past experience says it's a pain in the ass trying to get games in with people. I'd be open to joining though.Comment

We only have 5, but all 5 are easy to get user games in with, so no worries there. 48 hour advances, so if you want to play every single game it's a bit tough, but we need to advance at that pace to get through multiple seasons in decent time.
Sims gonna happen, but we all agree this is the best way.Comment

Do it. We're not that far into the season, so not much has changed with teams (other than a significant calgary/detroit trade) and everyone still in the race.

As long as you post in the threads, it is not hard to get ahold of people. Hockey games take 20min to play, so snagging someone for a quick game is easy. KG/Me match was intense, and one of the best games I have played 1v1 in any league. It just had that playoff feel, and it was a big game.
And don't be worried about sims and shit. It happens. This isn't football where you sim two games and you are fucked, here you could sim half your season and still be fine for playoffs. All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

Man, I love this game. I feel stupid for ignoring it for so many years.
Once I switched controls to "classic", I felt right at home and it was like I was playing a far more realistic version of my favorite game ever, NHL '95. The only drawback is that I haven't followed the NHL in something like 15 years, so I have zero familiarity with the league or the players at all anymore.
I'm going to look into this league you guys have going. This game is a fucking blast.Comment

shit, you guys are on 360, oh well
having a ton of fun with this franchise, this game would be perfect if I knew who the players were
once I get a feel for the current scene, I can really dig in and start adjusting my lines and playing around with the roster. i can see myself playing this game until the next one comes aroundComment

If you need help with the roster stuff post it here or start a thread in my league forum. Someone will help. All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

Finally bought this game because I was craving a hockey game. This game plays terrible. I don't see how I will be able to play this game much more than a few games.

I was so pissed too bc the last few years they have been slowly slipping but this year the gameplay is horrendous.Comment

I actually don't mind it all that much. I thought the 1v1 games (with the right opponent) were amazing. The playoffs were great, KG's and I Stanley Cup finals were extremely competitive hockey. Maybe because I haven't had my xbox in about 2 months and haven't played the game I am missing something, but I didn't mind the game this year. I wanted to get some EASHL going again just for the hell of it.All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

Ive been playing 13 now for a couple days.
On pro difficulty, Caps vs Shawinigan Cataractes/Great Britain (basically the worst couple teams in the game), I'm getting destroyed almost every game. I'm noticing the CPUs goalies all play like Roy/Broduer. WTF, they commit to my deke and go the wrong way, or are laying down after a save, then are leaping around and saving my wide open followup shots. Ive played about 10 games so far (against 1 star teams) and won about three (1-0, 7-0, 3-2) The rest, I've been completely blownout/shutout.
I'll be the first to admit, I'm not very hockey savvy, but should I be getting destroyed on PRO? I try to stick to the plays, although, if I can get to the crease with a F, I usually attempt a deke & a shot on goal. I work the puck around looking for 1x with my snipers or take a slapshot when I have a couple F's in the crease hoping for a rebound, but the tenders are like fucking brick walls. It seems as though its impossible to poke the puck away from the cpu, but they snag it from me anytime I get too close. If the cpu and I are both after a loose puck, the cpu gets it 90% of the time, even if I am between the puck and the cpu. My players often have difficulty making/receiving passes cleanly, but the cpu is crisp as a new $100 bill, and on defense, they are ALWAYS in the passing lanes.
All that said, I like the game, and I'm thinking about trying it out on line, but its probably not going to be fun if I'm hockey retarded.
Anyone else having these problems? Do I just have the suck?Comment

Have you played it since the latest update? I just played two games of 1v1 online there. The goalies look to be set to rookie difficulty. I won 5-3 and lost 5-3, but I felt like only half of those goals might have happened if the AI wasn't broken. The AI continues to be fundamentally unable to do what it's supposed to do. This game 1v1 peaked in NHL 09, since then it has become less fun and less playable not just with every yearly edition but with every single mid-season patch too.Comment
