I'm going to take the next couple of months to slowly build a gaming computer. Haven't built one since i was like 17 but my estimated date of completion is February 1st 2013... hopefully the world doesn't end before then. Anyway, i will keep you guys updated and answer all the questions or comments you have. It'd be nice to have some recommendations from leaf.

I just built a bad ass gaming rig a couple of months ago. I kept my Sony Blu-ray burner, Samsung 1080p LED monitor and Logitech speakers from the previous setup. Here's what I put into the new rig-
Antec Nine Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case with Upgraded USB 3.0
Intel Core i5-3570K Ivy Bridge 3.4GHz (3.8GHz Turbo) LGA 1155 77W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4000
ASRock Z77 Pro3 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Seagate Barracuda ST31000524AS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600)
SAPPHIRE 100352SR Radeon HD 7950 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
PC Power and Cooling Silencer MK III 600W Modular 80PLUS Bronze Power Supply
Logitech G110 Gaming Keyboard/Logitech G400 Gaming Mouse
Total Spend $1147
Obviously if you are building it in phases, you would want to start with the case, motherboard, RAM and PSU. You could easily bring over your existing hard drive (back up everything and reformat before installing/re-installing OS) and lots of good motherboards have built in HD graphics that would get you buy until you could get a beast card to put in as your primary.Comment

you should get all the new parts at once....getting them a month at a time doesnt make a lot of sense as the motherboard you bought 6 months ago is now not compatible with the new processor that is out meow...Comment

You should at least get the CPU and motherboard together especially if you go the AMD route. I've read a couple of complaints recently where mobos for certain AMD sockets are getting hard to find.Comment

They hired a bank recently to go over their financials and try to point them where to go.

I guess a couple questions I ask is:
How much money are you willing to spend?
What do you currently have?
Buying retarded things like keyboards/mouses and monitors can be avoided right away if you don't need them. I usually say go for the new hard drive since the new ones are just that much faster then their old counterparts. Although I really only spent like $60 on my current gaming mouse and the old microsoft keyboard I have trumps the old logitech gaming keyboard that I used to have.
Which version of windows do you have? Real or Pirated?
