Ever since JMS reminded me that any old smartphone charger (except of course Apple with their proprietary bullshit) works, I don't even need to do that.

You do know that the system being on or off makes no difference during an electrical surge right? Unless you're plugging/unplugging it into the wall you might want to look into a surge protector.

I keep my shit on stand by 24/7. I also have the charging station for my controllers so I don't even have to plug my controllers into the system to charge them. I just enjoy being able to instantly play instead of waiting for the shit to boot up. It's nice to be able to pause a game when I'm going to bed, put the system into standby and then return to the same game the next day after work.

During the week I shut mine down. On the weekends I will leave it on standby.

I could just be paranoid, but I'm just worried leaving it on stand-by all the time is going to bite me in the ass or something.
Stand-By is pretty much sleep/hibernation mode on PC. Its a low power state and completely safe. I have yet to fully turn my system off since it launched

@Kotaku: We raced an Xbox One and PS4 to install a game. What a difference: http://t.co/hEOqgijN6m

How long does it take for your PS4 to boot up? Takes my TV longer to turn on than my console to get fully prepped and signed in.

I did not expect such a difference, some of that is ridiculous. WTF Xbox.

I'm pretty sure I read that if you unplug your console while in standbye mode it could do harm, idk. Try it for me

I keep getting that annoying error message whenever I try to access the menu in 2k. What the fuck?!

You can't get mad at that article though, they're just stating facts. The difference is pretty ridiculous.

Can't access the article at work, what is the end game? I got all 3 of my games installed within an hour. 2K14, BF4, and DR3.

Is that the full installation time for PS4 or just the amount of time it games for the game to start? I could play a quick game of 2K14 after about a minute and a half. The full installation took closer to 20 minutes.

I'm in the running to give a kid a bad Christmas starting tomorrow.

Lucky for me, my family's been eating Thanksgiving Dinner earlier and earlier every year.

"Unfortunately" this is going to be the third time I'll be in a pre-order line situation where I'm standing in the cold with a bunch of people I don't care to know.
