At least you can download it on your PC and install via USB. According to GAF, the update is already available to download.
I did forget about that. Hopefully plenty of people do that, and everyone benefits. I just remember the trainwreck Wii U launch. My little cousin got one and was super bummed.

For PS3, when I got a new HDD, I used a random thumb drive to transfer over the necessary files to be able to boot the thing. I don't remember the brand, but it definitely wasn't Sony. Don't know if this one is going to be different, or if it's different with patches (I still had to download the newest patch afterwards).

          PlayStation.com

Although the PS4 system update isn't on there yet (only PS3, PSV and PSP).

EDIT: Editing your damn comment. Come on, JMS.

I think it's a fair point though. And how does this play out for all those gamers that people harp on MS about that don't have internet connections (or at least their console connected to the internet)? I guess they will have to seek out the patch? Personally, I don't care because this stuff rarely has any effect on me, but it just seems REALLY risky to do a day 1 patch, regardless of whether or not you make the stuff available beforehand. Hopefully it works out for them, or at least, doesn't go too horribly wrong.

I would think the majority of the idiots buying this at launch have an internet connection. AM I rite?

The whole online thing regarding the uproar earlier this year was the inability to play games without internet. Even without the patch the PS4 can play whatever game you put in it. Even download in the background while playing.

Have a connection yes. But maybe not their system connected.

I was being facetious more than anything, just because I find it humorous when online shit is bemoaned for MS, but to get the most out of their purchase, many people are going to have their system connected to the internet when they get home. But MS is the evil Empire, and Sony cares about consumers more than money.

Well, that helps explain why Angry Birds: Star Wars is $40.

Speaking of which, does anyone know why the fuck it's $40 on the PSN store? Who the hell would pay that much for a mobile game?

I havent followed news other than the occasional pop in to vsn or verge link.....every time I do...its never good news or something awesome. Its always some stupid decision or shortcoming being revealed. These consoles seem to suck all kinds of ass.
Best reason to have a license.

You read that wrong. The drive has to be a MINIMUM of 160GB
