For PS3, when I got a new HDD, I used a random thumb drive to transfer over the necessary files to be able to boot the thing. I don't remember the brand, but it definitely wasn't Sony. Don't know if this one is going to be different, or if it's different with patches (I still had to download the newest patch afterwards).Comment

anyone have the link to the update?
edit: I guess here
here is the PS3 update procedure from PC to USB to PS3

Although the PS4 system update isn't on there yet (only PS3, PSV and PSP).
EDIT: Editing your damn comment. Come on, JMS.Comment

I think it's a fair point though. And how does this play out for all those gamers that people harp on MS about that don't have internet connections (or at least their console connected to the internet)? I guess they will have to seek out the patch? Personally, I don't care because this stuff rarely has any effect on me, but it just seems REALLY risky to do a day 1 patch, regardless of whether or not you make the stuff available beforehand. Hopefully it works out for them, or at least, doesn't go too horribly wrong.Comment

I was being facetious more than anything, just because I find it humorous when online shit is bemoaned for MS, but to get the most out of their purchase, many people are going to have their system connected to the internet when they get home. But MS is the evil Empire, and Sony cares about consumers more than money.Comment

So no streaming videos or music from your PC via DLNA media servers, can't store and play music files outside of their service, and they backed off their claim that you could post videos directly to YouTube (only to Facebook). Pretty disappointed with that news.
Speaking of which, does anyone know why the fuck it's $40 on the PSN store? Who the hell would pay that much for a mobile game?
I havent followed news other than the occasional pop in to vsn or verge link.....every time I do...its never good news or something awesome. Its always some stupid decision or shortcoming being revealed. These consoles seem to suck all kinds of ass.Best reason to have a license.
