its funny how all of a sudden its ok to charge for online gaming, but for the past 5 years it was M$ sucks

Not really the point. (Also, paying for online gaming started long before consoles became online devices. It's been "ok" for quite some time to pay for persistent online services)

PS+ service is worth it for what it provides to you today. They aren't changing the fee to now include it being required for online, so you still get all the cool features of the service that has made it popular.

MS sucks because their service was required and offered little to nothing else. At least they are giving some old games for a couple months to get people to hang on to their service.

The offerings aren't even comparable. People willingly pay for PS+ when they don't have to, who the shit would be paying for XBL if XBL had a free option?

While it stinks online gaming isn't free, what you get with PS+ makes it well worth it. Like KG said a ton of people buy PS+ just because now. You get enough games and discounts that you make your $50 back so it isn't a big deal really in the grand scheme of things. PS+ is a value added service, where XBL is just a giant paywall imo. (Pay XBL so u can watch netflix etc which you already pay for.. wtf?)

PS+ is pretty awesome, I don't mind paying for online play at all.

Plus with the extra money, Sony might actually be able to offer better servers.

Any news on whether PS4 will have online parties like XBOX?

Lack of backwards compatibility is the ghey.

Since I'm going to be buying a PS4 it'd be nice if I could go back and play the PS3 exclusives I've never touched.

Well, having that backwards compatibility could have made the console $500+. Do you want something new or do you want something old?

Play the new shit, and buy a PS3 someday when it's cheap. Or, as will most likely be the case, buy digital copies of PS3 games once they start selling them/get their streaming up. I don't want old systems to make my new systems more expensive.

Yeah. Chances are the PS3 will see a major price cut by next winter. You can go that route or the Gaikai stuff will be launching in 2014.
