What are you talking about re: no longer pre-orderable?
They stopped taking them at most places, some of them are now taking them again. I just can't see that lasting too far into the Fall though. As Seth said, very little chance you walk into a store and find one at any point in 2013.
You'll need to pay for premium membership to play (non-free-to-play) games online with a PS4, but not to share them: Sony prez Shuhei Yoshida clarified on Twitter today that you can stream and record PS4 gameplay footage without paying any PlayStation Plus fees.
In tomorrow's news, Microsoft announces you can stream without an XBL Gold Membership.....
MS has all the glib comments in the world coming to them, but honestly, I hope Sony having stuff for free does keep pushing MS away from putting things behind a pay wall. It's basically what I wished would have happened this past generation, but Sony spent too much of it just trying to make their online competent.
Sell me on the PS4...why do I want this come launch day?
I'm not going to advocate one way or another. At this point the PS4 and Xbox One are almost identical, and we probably won't know whether the theoretical hardware advantage for PS4 will manifest for a while. That said, I'd say you need to ask yourself a few questions to determine which next gen console you should get at launch:
Which console has better exclusives and launch lineup?
Do you want to be forced to pay more to buy a Kinect?
Do you have a cable box and want to run that through your console?
Does either Gold or PS+ offer enough to sway you one way or another?
Can you just upgrade your PC?
With the leaps and bounds PC ports have taken just in the last couple of years, I am in agreement with Pad: I'd be inclined to just upgrade the PC. Plus JMS, you're a card carrying graphics whore.

Which console has better exclusives and launch lineup? give me PS4 games coming out this year
Do you want to be forced to pay more to buy a Kinect? nothing to do with PS4
Do you have a cable box and want to run that through your console? nothing to do with PS4
Does either Gold or PS+ offer enough to sway you one way or another? PS+ Maybe
Can you just upgrade your PC? Yes
Simple Question
Why should I buy a PS4 this year? Sell me!
edit - please no mention of Xbox...
You know the features the PS4 has. Why do you need us to tell you. The reason it's compared to XB1 is because they both do many of the same things so it's easier just to explain the difference. Your avatar is a fucking XB1 for christs sake. Do you want me to tell you about how you can stream games on Ustream on the PS4?

I think his point is two fold. 1) The Juan has become many website's whipping boy, despite the fact that at this point there is little difference between the two; and 2) Does the PS4 really distance itself at all from a modern PC?
I could be wrong, but I feel like he's alluding to the fact that he doesn't see the point of getting psyched about these new consoles, based on what's out there thus far, but he's hoping someone can prove him wrong.

Well he's obviously psyched about the XB1 judging from his avatar and user title lol.
And I've never been a PC gamer and won't ever be one so I ignore the PC argument completely.
