Swarley's DualShock 4 Thoughts:
- First thing I noticed is the weight distribution in the DS4. As mentioned before, most of its weight is in the grips, and it feels weird at first. After holding this thing for a few minutes, though, you get used to it very quickly and it feels pretty nice.
- Right away you can tell how well it fits into your hands. The grips, the size, all the dimensions seem to be absolutely perfect and it's already my favorite controller to hold.
- The buttons and sticks feel great. The face buttons have a great click to them, much like the Xbox 360 face buttons (just a flatter surface). The sticks grip your thumbs really well and the tension in them is nearly perfect. The d-pad has a very nice click to it and overall feels pretty good. The triggers could be slightly longer, but their width definitely makes up for that. I like the Xbox 360 triggers, but I wish they would have been slightly wider.
- The touchpad is easy to get to with your fingers. As a button, it wouldn't be difficult to get to under normal gameplay. I'll be interested to see a game that uses the touch part for gameplay (like swiping or something).
- Weight is very similar to the DS3, although I think it might be slightly heavier.
- I disagree with MVP that it feels cheap. When in my hands it feels very well made, more so than either current-gen controllers.
- Seems to fix all the dislikes that I had with the DualShock 3 (convex sticks, lack of decent triggers, cheap-like feel at times), (note that I have no problem with the stick placement or the weight).
Overall I like it better than both current-gen controllers. I can't get over how well it feels when in my hands. The overall design feels so well, and it definitely helps that it feels sturdy and all the buttons/sticks have a nice click/resistance. I'm interested to see how the XB1 controller feels in my hands as a comparison. This is a controller that I think everyone will enjoy playing with.

I am 100% decided now. Not getting either system at launch. Gonna sit back for a few months, read your reviews, pros/cons and get one of the systems after all has been written. My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000

I agree with just about everything else you said, especially about the length of the triggers and how awesome the grips are.Comment
