Don't know how much more constructive you want me to make them. Use money from cash on hand to produce a great game. Reap benefits of great game for 3-5 years. Produce another great game. Rinse and repeat. That's all anyone is really asking for. These features they are announcing as new were in the PS2 version of the game. They are not new, they are returning features. They haven't added anything new to the game since the passing cone.

So they should never bring back the modes and functionality that you loved on the PS2 and make them better? I get the gist of what you are saying but if the game improves each year and adds some cool returning features along the way, it is hard for me to be negative on the situation.

All of this should have already been brought back. They're touting owner mode as a new feature this year when it's not. What other new stuff are they actually bringing in this year? And I mean new as in it was not available in any other version of Madden.

We've been asking for this stuff since what 2006?

They should have never gotten rid of it in the first place...

...and it shouldn't take 10 years to implement a fraction of the old mode on a superior platform.

Franchise mode on PS2 isn't as great as some of you make it out to be. "Owner mode" if you can even call it that, was utter shit on PS2. Besides the PS2 and PS3/360 versions are entirely different games. It's not like they took a whole bunch of shit out to fuck with you. PS2 Madden ≠ PS3/360 Madden.

Now they did fuck up with letting David Ortiz, a guy who catered to tournament gamers, be the lead developer and the people above him are responsible for not canning him earlier. They essentially wasted maybe 5 years of development and I think thats what you should be angry at.

What's different about owner mode this time around? If anything there was more features in the PS2 version. You could at least hire assistant coaches. There was updgrades, relocation, stadium rebuilds, complete stadium designs from ground up, price setting, you could even have fucking fan days to entice fans to come. It kept track of your income from ticket sales and expenses and gave you a whole end of the year report and you used this money to buy those upgrades and everything. They even had Mexico City as a city to relocate too. Unless you know something nobody else does about owner mode

It may have been utter shit but we've been playing a stripped down version of that "utter shit" for the past decade.. And even when EA tried to be innovative with their new scouting system and story lines a couple years back they just used the same draft classes that they used for NFL Head Coach the year before...

If that didn't tell you all you need to know about how lazy this company is in regards to Madden I don't know what it will take. The Madden team has shown time and time again that if there is a corner to be cut, they're going to cut it.

Interesting that the FIFA guys, who actually face some market competition, put out a quality product every year that builds upon what they brought to the table the year before. I wonder if not having the exclusive rights to a sport is actually a good thing for innovation? Hmmmmmmm....

Except none of it meant anything when you got to season 6 and had 300 million in cap room and only spend a third of that. The amount of cap room you had went up an insane amount each season and it made pretty much everything else irrelevant.

You're right, rather than fix the cap room issue and continue to improve a popular game mode that already exists in the franchise how about we just take it out completely only reintroduce a portion of it 10 years later as a "new feature".

So that completely broke the game but the fact that coaching schemes were broken last year the entire year and brought down the overall of your players because you couldn't match schemes is perfectly ok?

I can't believe people are honestly getting sold on these "new features" as if they haven't been done before or are even improved upon. The only thing they even changed in owner mode was the menus, if anything its a scaled back version of what he had 10 years ago on the previous generation of consoles. You're telling me in 10 years not only can they not improve upon a feature but they can't even add it back in? This entire generation of consoles has been playing catch up to the PS2 the entire time. Somehow to me that sounds ass backwards.

Yes that would be viable option if you wanted the same PS2 graphics and franchise simmed stats. I personally don't want that and I want a more advanced game than the PS2 madden. Like I said they wasted about 5-6 years of development.

You are right about the competition though. If they had it they would have more urgency to make a better game. I understand they do have a more lax and wait and see approach in some cases but I think they've picked it up a little bit in recent years. But criticizing them for taking things out of the game is stupid because it's not the same game. Nothing was taken out it just wasn't put in in the first place because of the wasted years. Now it is.

And Argath is overrating what PS2 madden was and it's comical. Madden 13 is better than PS2 Madden ever was and PS2 Madden bored me by 07 and I only started playing Madden in 05.

So glad they didn't fix the sim engine so we don't have multiple RB's breaking 2,000 yards every year or the ridiculously increasing cap during the off-season every season which allows you to resign everyone and then sign all the best free agents! I'd much rather play as my LG.
