Wanna talk about gimmics... Madden 07 - You can play as an offensive lineman and then time warp to your RB in the middle of a run! So glad they didn't fix the sim engine so we don't have multiple RB's breaking 2,000 yards every year or the ridiculously increasing cap during the off-season every season which allows you to resign everyone and then sign all the best free agents! I'd much rather play as my LG.

Yes that would be viable option if you wanted the same PS2 graphics and franchise simmed stats. I personally don't want that and I want a more advanced game than the PS2 madden. Like I said they wasted about 5-6 years of development.

You are right about the competition though. If they had it they would have more urgency to make a better game. I understand they do have a more lax and wait and see approach in some cases but I think they've picked it up a little bit in recent years. But criticizing them for taking things out of the game is stupid because it's not the same game. Nothing was taken out it just wasn't put in in the first place because of the wasted years. Now it is.

And Argath is overrating what PS2 madden was and it's comical. Madden 13 is better than PS2 Madden ever was and PS2 Madden bored me by 07 and I only started playing Madden in 05.

Of course I am just screaming into empty space here, but the absolute #1 priority for Madden should be gameplay. NCAA draft classes, fine. 32-team control, fine ... but if the gameplay sucks, those features mean nothing. And the current gameplay sucks.

unfortunately, we would want to believe this but sales (even with the dip this year) don't show this. Features give them bullet points on the back of the box, which most people look for when picking up their 2-3 yearly titles. I would guess people who don't frequent gaming sites only have a total of 10 games this current gen and most of them are from their favorite sports and COD/BF.

You're probably right, ryne ... I just want Madden to approach Fifa, MLB The Show and NHL levels where gameplay is concerned. Yes, I love features, but gameplay is way more important.

I don't think Aso is understanding the point, as usual. it's not that PS2 was "better", it's that these features never should have left the game to begin with and should have been a constant throughout the dev cycles and had them improve year after year. Instead, the dev team took them out completely for years on end then introduce them as "new", when they aren't and now we'll have to put up with working the bugs out for the next few seasons when they should have already been worked out during the last half decade of Madden had they just been left in the game.

Those just raging about this and that can't comprehend it had to be rebuilt, which includes everything. You as someone who understandings these things, should be able to wrap your head around that. If they had to rebuild the mode, they have to rebuild all the features. The previous features TOOK A WHOLE GENERATION to appear, yet now people expect it all at once?
