Titanfall will have an 840MB day one update on the Xbox One according to someone that has a retail copy of the game. There is likely a similar update for the Xbox 360 and PC. The digital copy of the game will already be pre-patched and won't require an additional download.

This isn't really a complaint, more just an observation (as it usually only takes a couple of minutes, tops): is there a damn disc-based game that comes out today that doesn't require a day 1 patch?

Looking forward to Tuesday. BF4 is nearly unplayable for me now.

I think we have seen that developers use the fallback of the vast majority of consumers having broadband at their homes as a stop gap to keep to their published launch dates. If this were 5 years ago, the game would have just been pushed out a week or 2. Now they get the game to a certain point, it is time to make it gold and send off for replication and distribution to keep that launch date the corporate people mandated. It gives them a couple of precious weeks to make last minute bug fixes and package them as a day 1 update.

The best part of all of that, is that a lot (maybe even the majority?) of games STILL come out with a litany of bugs (and some games still come out just straight up broken - BF4 anyone?).

I guess that it's a good thing, because some of these games would likely be unplayable if they didn't have that day 1 patch.

Received an email from EA earlier, Titanfall should be here in the morning before 10:30AM central. I will be streaming the game on our Twitch channel as soon as the embargo lifts around 11AM central provided the game is delivered on time.
