I am curious with regard to the excitement you guys have over this. Is it just because it is a new game and we're still kind of in the doldrums of the new year as far as big game releases are concerned? First PS4 exclusive (EDIT- sorry,in a while)? Because of how amazing it looks? I only ask because every gameplay trailer that I've seen seems so boring, rote and repetitive.

Because it's a new IP, the story looks very interesting and the graphics looks incredible.

saw parts of giantbombs quick look. i am in a holding pattern. still undecided whether i am going to drop 60 on this game right now or wait until its on sale. i still have the last of us and shadow of mordor, and super mega baseball to play thru. so i am in no hurry.

I'm going to say that person is a complete moron. Was it Atlas by chance?

So far I've only played through chapter 1 and it took me an hour and a half. There are apparently 16 or 17 chapters. Now I know that they won't all be nearly as long but there is zero chance I'm finishing this in 5 or 6 hours.
I'm obviously very early but so far it's pretty bad ass.

I'm not getting a) why people seem defensive over this game; or b) why it is at all surprising that people that paid $60 for the game are more likely to enjoy than a reviewer.

I'm confused why a few people (Buckeye and I as far as I know) are "being defensive" because we're giving our honest opinion of the game? Because our opinion contrasts with a good amount of reviewers? Hell, he was just mentioning friends that have the game because he doesn't even have it.

For a reviewer to say this game is like a "bad Gears of War" is just laughable.

If this game sucks I'll be the first to say it. When I first saw the previews for the game I thought it looked like just another third person shooter. For fucks sake, read my comments from early in this thread. But so far I've been very impressed. The ridiculously critical reviews seem completely unwarranted at this point.

Personally I'm more inclined to play the game for myself and decide rather than let someone else make up my mind for me. Judging by some of the responses in this thread, review scores are more important actual enjoyment.

Somebody finally said it before I could. It seems that in today's society, instead of people making up their own minds, they rely on these big media outlets to tell them if they should play a game or not. Bottom line is that everyone likes something different; what could be a '2.5' star game on IGN could be an '8' for someone else because they enjoy the game.

Quit being a bunch of sheep. Formulate your own ideas and opinions.
