Essentially what I did today. Living the NASCAR dream by watching someone else virtually live the dream.

No, but I definitely want to get the BMW. I pretty much strictly run oval cars, as I'm pretty garbage when I have to turn right. I've only competed in the Rookie road races with a shitty Mazda MX5, and I still have trouble with them as I can't get heel and toe shifting down.

Yeah running a full series gets costly, especially if it's a mixed-make series, as you have to buy all the cars just to run one race. The only full series that I've really tried to run is the Late Model Series, and I think that requires 12 tracks plus the car. Doing the math, even if you were to buy everything in the series in bulk, you're looking at $128 after the bulk discount, plus $15 month. It is definitely quite expensive.

Now iRacing is about to come to Steam, so their pricing model may change a lot once it gets on there.

I would have taken the entire field out, that is just too close for me.
What's great about that series is it doesn't affect your Safety Rating or how you are rated in iRacing, so you don't have to worry as much about wrecking people. I've definitely started my fair share of wrecks.

Either way, plate racing is a ton of fun as long as you get in a pretty good group. As long as you aren't sticking your nose in places that you shouldn't be, then you'll be fine.

Just watched a guy on Twitch do a GT3 race at Circuit of the Americas. It was like an hour long race or something and he had moved into the top 10 with like 5 minutes to go. He ran out of fuel going into sector 3 of the final lap. It was fun watching him at the end just to see if his fuel strategy was going to pay off or not. That's the fun thing about timed events, if the leader had crossed the line just a little sooner, he would have had one less lap to do and would have been fine.

the iRacing league race meltdowns are always fun to watch, but I can't remember how I got to the videos.

This was a few years ago when there weren't so many videos on youtube, but they would be in the big league races and someone would just get absolutely fed up with the bumping and purposely wipe out half of the field in anger.

I paid the $89 for 2 years. I figured it was less than the normal one year and that way if I like it, I don't have to pay more next year.

                I'm sure I'll like it.

I would love to join Garrett...I could do nights. The weekends I spend most of my time with Sara and wife.

                    I would need a wheel though...ugh.

I'm also curious about what you think and how much money you will have to spend just to do a series. I've come close to doing the 1 month to start but haven't been able to pull the trigger on it yet

I will let you know. I won't be in any hurry to advance so it might take awhile. I'll probably play around with it this weekend after I get my wheel stand. I can mount it to my desk but I already have a flight yoke hooked up and its getting a bit cluttered with basically 2 wheels and 2 sets of pedals hooked up.

Dammit, you guys lol. I'm officially in full-on hardcore 'figure out how to get a gaming PC' mode. I'm even considering going down to the street corner . I MUST iRace with you guys.

Look around on ebay for used ones. You could probably find a G27 for $200.

Yeah good idea. Is that the ideal wheel to have?
