My last point in this Saturday morning info session is that I see that MOST of the people on here who have purchased a gaming PC and have consoles as well use their the PC for gaming the most now. The consoles take 2nd shelf...

IMO if you are into gaming then I dont see any solid reason not to at least try to experience it. Steam is great and there are tons and tons of games to try out and sub $10 prices...most of them do not need a powerful graphics card. Dont be afraid...its just a computer.

Yes you can but you are seriously handicapping yourself if your planning on playing multiplayer.

Yeah playing multiplayer shooters like Battlefield on the PC with a controller is a severe disadvantage. That is the plus of competitive shooters on consoles...you know everyone is on the same playing field.

While I absolutely agree the PS4 and Xbox One suck graphically compared to that $1,000 graphic card, I won't have to replace my new console next year. I also prefer to game on my 50-inch TV lying on my couch, not my 24-inch monitor on my office desk.
my brother juat bought two of the best gfx cards out there, (the geforce 780gtx),his pc will be good for atleast 6 years. Hell I ran skyrim on high settings with 20 some odd mods with a geforce 7800GT, and that came out in 06. The whole constant upgrading thing is a big myth, surely there is newer shit coming out all the time but alot of the times the changes are miniscule to no change in terms of power no what higher # they slap on it.

The GTX 780M is the most powerful Notebook GPU out there. Unless you got an amazing deal on that laptop or it was used/refurbished that laptop looks to have costs $1000+.

              What brand laptop is that?

An MSI with similar specs costs $1900...http://www.amazon.com/MSI-GT70-2OD-4...productDetails

I had a $1,200 cap on a business laptop as a lot of people get Macbooks. I got it refurbished. It's ugly as hell like most gaming laptops, but it's nice as hell. Fangbook.

Buy a small ITX box and it build it yourself. Steam Machines are gaming PCs in SFF, with the weird controller (protoype) and Steam OS installed. Steam OS is not ready for commercial use...not even close.

The video below is a gaming PC which is not small but not big. You can easily build and upgrade this and it wont appear much different than a subwoofer in your living room. When you get smaller and smaller with your build then you run into having to buy specialty parts which may become more expensive.

Linus has many videos building SFF gaming PCs...even a Titan water cooler one.

JMS i know i just built my pc last year but i'm looking to upgrade my GFX card. I have a Geforce GTX 660 but need to go up to play the latest games at Optimal settings. Recommendations? Want to keep it under 400 if possible.

                            Sorry for thread hijack.

You have 2 options IMO...get another GTX 660 and run them in SLI mode. You have to make sure you Motherboard support its, your PSU has adequate power and make sure you case has adequate cooling. This is the cheapest way to go...but keep in mind some games don't have SLI profiles to take advantage of it...do some research. I ran to gtx 560tis and I had no problems other than my computer produced some heat. I had a cheap as case...I have since upgraded.

The option is sell the 660 for around $150 on ebay and put the money towards a 760 or 770.

                                770 is $329 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125463
                                760 is $250 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125466

I am sure 800 series cards are coming this summer if you want to wait but that's up to you. IMO the single card is always better. The 760 is a nice sweet spot for 1080p gaming but the 770 will give you a little more head room. I hear there is a 760ti coming very soon as well.

If you want >60FPS at all times in BF4 at 1080p at maxed out setting then go for the 770...if you dont mind tweaking a little and getting those FPS up then 760.

Good luck...check out youtube...it really is a great resource for this stuff. People love to test and review the hardware.
