He is just embarrassing himself. For years, he built his entire persona in the gaming community as being one of the most prominent members of the Madden community. Starting with Madden Nation season 3 and going to community days before they were even called community days right up to being a Game Changer and hosting an EA endorsed radio show. Now he hates Madden and EA after they have done nothing but increase his profile for the past 15 years? Last month he loved Madden, this month it is the worst game ever? Yeah, right.
I know exactly what is going on here. I am friends with one of the Game Changers who I will not name here on facebook. He posted something about the gay marriage debate on his facebook page and "Coach Ruckus" aka Steve Williams went off on a misogynistic, homophobic rant that carried on for hours. To the point that I even commented that he saw EA employees commenting on the thread and that his involvement with a publicly traded company is limited to the point that he becomes a liability to them. They can't afford to have him wearing an EA shirt at E3 and start getting up in somebody's grill acting the fool. Something tells me that that episode was not EA's only issue with him. Guys like that don't change who they are overnight, he's been like that for a while and just got worse at hiding it.
He talked shit, he got shown the door. -
The man is salty (He was riding EA's nuts hard just a few months ago).
But the coverage shell video is so right and it's something so fundamental it should be in the game, considering it's in the game. That's just one example of how APF was and still is clearly the more fundamentally sound game.
As for everything else he's saying in regards to marketing, programming, game changers, community managers, etc. I think at this point it's conventional wisdom that Madden will forever be a casual sport gamer's game because it is simply not in the best interest of EA to create a realistic game. He's kind of beating a dead horse but that's how he's going to try and stay relevant at the moment.
At this point complaining about EA and their practices, like complaining about an exclusive license from the NFL's part, is useless. It's how they operate, it's how they survive, and it's not going to change.
If we're lucky, really lucky, all of the pining for a generic game will pay off.Comment

first off..I have never used a knife to cut my scrambled eggs to eat them...or my pancakes for that matter.
EA is brilliant in finding really dumb adults who don't understand you are simply there to test the/a game...its a toy, not a flight simulator for football.
EA gets guys in their 20s and 30s to fly to the company, not get paid and be a tax right off to make sure the QB doesn't do a happy dance after an int. or the AI/cpu doesn't punt on first down. I suppose theres nothing wrong if you are willing to do that...Its kind of the American version of slave labor though LOL. ...they aren't paying you but you think they want to here your analysis on the science of football? you agreed to go there for a week for no pay and wonder why you aren't listened to?
I agree with the wants of a straight game but I understand this is supposed to be nothing more than a fun/free time entertainment toy.
and quite frankly even on that level it works very much like a football game and after playing for so long I see how the ratings on players work and it averages out to looking feeling like a real game in its animated pseudo form.
but its fascinating that guys like him and that Ryanmoody21 guy haven't matured enough to know the difference between playing a game and dealing with things that are actually important in life.
these guys don't get that they are basically like the Christmas help at a department store. Game-changer is a fancy name for game tester . You aren't there to tell them the science of the 5-2 defense. They already have enough football heads on the payroll.
pseudo intellectuals that waste their time doing this stuff LOL get a life dude
I don't know the Ruckus dude and have nothing against him and hope he's pretty normal in other aspects but he simply doesn't understand reality in this regard.Comment

I will have more on this later this weekend as I will put up EXACTLY what we do at Events as well as the in between times.
As far as the "only a few guys in the program pushing Sim" thats garbage. Guys like Brian Parker, Corey Andress, Jeff Setzer, Shaun Mason... are all 100% pushing for realism. I could name 20 others...
Surprisingly, Gibs and Farls have done far more towards making the game sim than any member of the program or community. They have eliminated multiple game killing bugs (so has Zac Neal). Those three guys right there know more about actual football concepts than anyone else i have ever met.. including many football coaches.Comment

but the company/EA still needs to find a way to make it interesting and marketable and fun to sell to the masses. Your sim ideas are only as good/ interesting to them as long as they can make them not difficult to play and understood by the mass consumer.Comment

Exactly... that's business. The dev team wants a 100% sim experience, that I can assure you. The company itself wants a good game that sells to the most people (as does EVERY COMPANY). Hopefully we can have an experience that satisfies both to the greatest extent possible.

you're saying-exactly- but that's the problem..guys like him and moody don't get where the two things cross.
the Moody guy... I made some comments on OS with him and said its a football game and serves its purpose and he keeps going back to- its false advertising and they call it real football when it isn't bla bla-...I'm sure I said in so many words that for an adult he simply doesn't understand marketing and the selling of entertainment/toys....I am being pro EA but I eventually get banned for the umpteenth time LOL...and he ends up getting banned a short time later...I guess for not using correct OS/EA speak for what ever reason.Comment

Game gonna sell itself on name alone, why not make a realistic game while you're at it? We have been knowingly buying glorified roster updates for years, might as well actually do something different for a change. That mass appeal excuse is just that, a weak ass excuse.

Plain and simple, they changed player movement this year... it cost them points on a lot of reviews due to the added complexity. "No one wants realism"... "they want to juke, spin, cut on a dime". The second management sees that, it is back to the drawing board.

Yep... until major review companies start ripping the game for being too complex like they did this year. And a year or so after that, quite a bit if people will stop buying.
