    Sim to me...
    punting in appropriate situations
no yoyo motioning to see if the d is in man or zone
    VARIED MFING PLAYCALLING
No use of AI abuse/glitch plays ( qb draw glitch from 05, wr direct snap from 08, etc)

2 biggest ones now. Most people punt now not that big a deal.

Also i understand in reallife we see more things but thats real life. We dont play 15 min qrtrs online, we cant just sub in guys after every play if we wanted to. Fatigue in Madden is a joke so OBV in reallife your not going to run with a QB the whole way down field or throw bombs to WRs every play cause guys actually get tired.

The anything is sim is BS IMO. But if your a tourny player then good for you, i dont hate on you guys. Just dont play me and we will be fine.

This. I hate to play people that run the same plays over and over again or pick the same defense over and over again. Its not that I can't stop it or adjust to it, its that fact that it just looks stupid as fuck and makes the game get stale really quick. I also hate to see someone come out in a quarters defense when I come out in a base set of two wrs, a te, and two rbs. I just hate that shit and will try to run it down the guys throat if he keeps doing it.

When I play with my boys at my crib or something, we always play as close to our team as we would.

Punting when appropriate, and we vary our formations a lot. We all have "win" plays, but to run that stuff more than 3-5 times a game is weak and we frown upon it.

We stay away from screens as a whole, unless it's a situation that may call upon it. Maybe 3rd and long, just trying to get better position to punt.

Usually, I never have problems with people from here for SIM. If I find myself frustrated playing someone, it's usually as a result of my actions, not because of a play or formation abuse from their side of the ball.

I don't know about the same formation, I'm a run heavy guy, anybody that's played me before knows I like to pound the ball with the run game and I only throw about 15-20 times a game. More if I'm down late. I use the I-Formation a lot, I like the I-Formation for a lot of reasons, it's simple, you can run a good amount of different run plays out of it. And if the defense bites, it's a real good formation to be in with a play action pass.

If the defense doesn't bite it has the ability to get you out of tricky situations with blitz packages as your dump routes are your FB/RB. I know I run the I-Formation at least 30% of the game. So If I have 50 plays, your seeing the I formation at least 15 times. Also, I don't agree with the use of motion, I like to use it to build a new route on a "heavy" side. pushing the defense one way while that motion man cuts back across on a different route, most times a slant. I don't think that's cheese or not sim, coaches do it often in real life to split the d-backs and safties.

Really sim comes down to what you do when in pressure situations. If your back is against the wall and your using stuff like rocket catching every time, or that money play on fourth and short that's not sim and its frustrating because I know for three plays I shut you down and in real life that team punts, not run a rocket catch route because they know it will work.

                idk...

I've always been the type of guy that just wants to play a fair game...

if there is play that is impossible to stop, that means its abuse of the AI, and it doesn't deserve to be used in a real game. my opinion has always been, if a guy is running the same play over and over, it CAN'T be that hard to pick the correct defense for it and make him be honest if the play isn't blatantly abusing poor AI.

A lot of times I get heat from guys who run a lot of man defense or fail to cover the flats because I dump the ball off a lot when the guy isn't covered into the flats. my opinion is, its to damn easy to pick a play and cover the flats and shut it down, when you choose not to shut it down and not to cover it, your taking away an option from me, and forcing me to play like YOU want me to play. I HAVE to throw the ball to where the play is open, but when I do this with a lot of sim guys, they get really upset that I dumped the ball off to my running back 10 times in a game, when they should be upset with themselves for the fact that all they had to do was pick a cover 2 or cover 3 or even a cover 4 or some other wack play where someone was designated to cover the flats.

if you don't believe it doesn't happen in real life, Watch Superbowl 41, where Joseph Addai damn near broke the record for receptions by a single player in the superbowl because the Bears defense refused to cover the flats because they were so scared of the deep ball and manning hurting them.

another example of this would be the same team, in the same year.

Everyone is well aware that Indianapolis had one of the worst defenses in the history of the NFL that year, and it WAS the worst rushing defense the NFL had ever seen. and I saw teams run the same play, over, and over, and over, and over again, and then one more time to be safe.

The Jaguars, the Patriots, the Broncos, and everyone else and their mother would run the equivalent to the Halfback Slam every play because of Indianapolis' inability to effectively stop the running game.

my whole thing is, If I'm picking a legit play that is completely stoppable and isn't abusing the AI or isn't cheating you through cheap tactics or play, don't bitch at me if you refuse to adjust your game and stop it. its simple, if you adjust you game and stop it, I have to expand my playbook.

an example of a play people shouldn't abuse.... The Screen pass in NCAA.... its easy to stop, but it demands a lot to stop it, and its a cheap play, this isn't the type of play I'd run every time to beat someone.

Better believe we'll be doing it again in a few months...and I'm looking forward to it. The game this year is sounding better and better every time I read something about it. August can't come soon enough.

I had a technical answer on OS, I'll give a philosophical one here.

"Sim" is honoring the sport when playing the game.

Sim is when you have a video game that mirrors the actual game of football enough so you don't have to rely on rules like "always punt on 4th down" or "don't do this with your dline."

For once I'm gonna have to agree with Userpikk. I mean if you always leave my RB open in the flats, always leave ins/outs open, always leave the HB toss open, etc. Then what do you expect me to do?
If my opponent is running Cover 2 for the majority of the game then you just expect me to stop after 4 easy bombs for TD's because it's not realistic? I just take whatever my opponent gives me and if they happen to give me the same thing over and over then I'm gonna keep on taking it.(no homo)
It's plain stupid just to switch it up because it's more realistic.

Sim is anything that doesn't just abuse an exploit. Rocket/Nano/Fb Dive is about it.

If you want to run the same play over and over, that's fine because it can be stopped.
Want to jack around your formation, that's fine I'll attack it.
Want to go for it on 4th down, thanks for the field position.

Good post, if you are running legit plays and the defense refuses to switch their scheme to adjust than that is their problem not yours.
