Even OS gets under EA's skin

Just read that whole thread (I suck) and was quite amused at some of the criticism. Hell, some of those posters there are far worse than any of us were when he posted at MM.

Originally posted by BritrockEA Sports teams are going to get shit on year after year until they move away from 1 year dev cycles. You simply can't get enough done nowadays in one year for a game to be the quality people expect. The big game companies take 2-3 years to produce the blockbuster titles, and people still find stuff to complain about, and that's with months and months of playtesting (Valve are notorious for the amount of testing their titles get, and they still come out with bugs). You simply can't do it all in one year, and working 70 hour weeks doesn't help anyone.
Look at Pro-Tak, Ian said it took them 2 years to make just that one thing for the game. No wonder people feel shafted when they found out it was half implemented in last years game, and chances are it'll still have a few rough edges this year.Comment

EA is not legally permitted to have 2 year cycles. The license comes with a provision that states that EA has to pay the NFL penalties if they don't ship annually, on time.S.P.Q.A.

LOL.. I made that thread primarily to talk about the new things the dev mentioned... People made it into something else.
OS is more mature than MM ever was X10Comment

There is nothing to stop EA from doing 2 year development cycles on the Madden series (ex starting this year on '11) but it would require 2 teams of programmers and therein lies the rub. Even though Madden is EA's cash cow, they are too cheap from a corporate perspective to pay that many developers.Comment

definitely not happening.Comment

Which is all due to corporate mismanagement and greed. EA sold approximately 4.5M copies at retail, figure an average price of $50 and that equals $225,000,000. They could afford a lot of well paid developers working normal hours for a fraction of that money. Instead they skimp on their flagship product and pretty much keep an entire company afloat with that revenue. Great for them, sucks for the consumer.Comment

"some people around the halls of EA think that letting the community set priority isn't the best way to go"
People just want a game that frigin plays like the sport in which it is based. That is all...not only does a community of nerds want it, anyone that I've met that has even remotely played Madden thinks the game should play more like a real game of football.
Other genres can get close or at least give a happy medium. of fun, yet realistic play...NHL/NHL2K series, NBA2K series, the old MVP Baseball series and now the Sony Baseball game...they have all made steps in the right direction every year into making these series more and more like their real life counterparts. Yeah, there are their fair share of quirks and complaints, but nothing near the state of football gaming.Comment

When you dig a little deeper sometimes you find some seeds in the manure, and if you nuture those you may have something grand on your plate someday.

Lmao, EA puts out a shitty game for years, and they don't want to hear about it? That dude is an even bigger vagina than Ian is.So, metaphorically speaking, our physiology basically has the universe mapped out and you're thinking it needs to be taught addition & subtraction.
