Just read that whole thread (I suck) and was quite amused at some of the criticism. Hell, some of those posters there are far worse than any of us were when he posted at MM.

You simply can't do it all in one year, and working 70 hour weeks doesn't help anyone.

Look at Pro-Tak, Ian said it took them 2 years to make just that one thing for the game. No wonder people feel shafted when they found out it was half implemented in last years game, and chances are it'll still have a few rough edges this year.
Thats the thing tho, they can't take 2-3 years to make madden, nor can any other company spend that long on any major sports game. Yes it might be ideal for creating the best game possible, but at the expense of not having a game for 3 years in between. And as sports are ever changing how shitty would it be to still be playing madden 07 and waiting for madden 10. Or still have been playing NBA 2k6 waiting for 2k9 to drop? The way their doing it now is the only way that really makes sense for a mainstream, licensed sports game. People go " Oh my god APF 2k8 was great" That's cuz they had three years to make it, if it came out yearly you wouldn't see huge jumps in it either. Alot of people don't seem to grasp how much work goes into making 1 video game.

EA is not legally permitted to have 2 year cycles. The license comes with a provision that states that EA has to pay the NFL penalties if they don't ship annually, on time.

Ugh... FS/SS reactions were NOT where they need to be at CD, nor was QB rollout (due to some problems with the way the pockets were working). Man to Man was awesome, primarily in the difference between different types/talent levels of the cover men. They were all tuning issues that can be resolved, we'll see.

LOL.. I made that thread primarily to talk about the new things the dev mentioned... People made it into something else.

OS is more mature than MM ever was X10

There is nothing to stop EA from doing 2 year development cycles on the Madden series (ex starting this year on '11) but it would require 2 teams of programmers and therein lies the rub. Even though Madden is EA's cash cow, they are too cheap from a corporate perspective to pay that many developers.

considering the lawsuit a few years back because they overworked/underpaid their employees....

                  definitely not happening.

Which is all due to corporate mismanagement and greed. EA sold approximately 4.5M copies at retail, figure an average price of $50 and that equals $225,000,000. They could afford a lot of well paid developers working normal hours for a fraction of that money. Instead they skimp on their flagship product and pretty much keep an entire company afloat with that revenue. Great for them, sucks for the consumer.

                      anim8tor guy said:

"some people around the halls of EA think that letting the community set priority isn't the best way to go"

People just want a game that frigin plays like the sport in which it is based. That is all...not only does a community of nerds want it, anyone that I've met that has even remotely played Madden thinks the game should play more like a real game of football.

Other genres can get close or at least give a happy medium. of fun, yet realistic play...NHL/NHL2K series, NBA2K series, the old MVP Baseball series and now the Sony Baseball game...they have all made steps in the right direction every year into making these series more and more like their real life counterparts. Yeah, there are their fair share of quirks and complaints, but nothing near the state of football gaming.

Lmao, EA puts out a shitty game for years, and they don't want to hear about it? That dude is an even bigger vagina than Ian is.
