Just some reactions about the news. Obviously I couldn't keep it a secret that Melyssa was pregnant, so I prepared for the yelling and the "you're not responsible, blah, blah" talks. My friends and my father didn't tear me up as much as I thought, which was a huge relief. However, the one day I went to Melyssa's, where I was in for a big punch to the gut...

...literally.

"What the fuck Troy?"

Troy was madder than hell when I walked through the door. I only got two steps in before I took a shot to the gut.

"What the fuck Troy? More like 'what the fuck Ethan?' How the fuck did you get my sister pregnant!?"

"Well when a man and a woman like each other very much, sometimes things more than kissing happen..."

I was stopped mid-sentence when I received another punch to the gut.

"I hate fucking sarcasm. You should have the fucking shit beat out of you right now."

"Don't you think you've done enough?"

"Let me think about it...umm no."

Another punch to the gut and I was doubling over on the floor in obvious pain. Melyssa started to sprint down the stairs when she saw me.

"What the hell did you do Troy?"

"What does I look like I did Mel? He just fucked up your future! He..."

"No he didn't! If anything, he improved my future."

"Oh shit, now he's got you hopped up on drugs."

"Shut up Troy, I don't do drugs."

Troy kicked me in the gut as his anger increased.

"Stay the fuck out of this Ethan! Now Mel, tell me how the hell he improved your future?"

"Because...now it allows us to start a family."

"Haha, that has to be the stupidest thing I ever heard. Young puppy love, how cute?"

"Troy, you're just jealous of what we have."

"How so Mel?"

"Because, I know how your ex-fiance cheated on you a week before your wedding a year ago."

Suddenly Troy's face went from an expression of anger to one of complete disbelief.

"Mel...I thought that was just between me and you. Why bring that up now?"

"Because Troy, I can see it in you...you're jealous of what Ethan and I have."

"Not true..."

"Oh I know it is. You're jealous of me and want me to go down the same road that you did."

"Honestly...you're right."

I started to recover and slowly stood up. Troy started to stare right at me.

"The less you say, the better."

I just nodded my head in agreement.

"Listen Ethan, I'm sorry for treating you the way I have. Mel's right; I'm still not over the pain and suffering my ex-fiance put me through. And now that I see my sister happy with someone, I get jealous. I feel like, 'I suffered through hell, she should have to also.' And that's wrong, and I'm sorry. At first, I didn't like you...you know that. I hated your cockiness, your attitude, everything...because you remind me of me at your age. Yeah Ethan, I was the exact same way. Not so much as the school's star athlete, but yet as the popular kid. I figured you were using Mel as 'just another girl', but the more I saw you spend time with her, the more I realized you actually do care for my sister. I'm not going to lie - I'm pissed off about the whole pregnancy thing. But I believe in you Ethan...you'll make a good father. If you need any help with your son or daughter, just call. Truce?"

I was completely shocked about the series of events. It's funny how one event in your life can completely change your thoughts about them.

"Truce."

And with that handshake, I molded the first steps to a possible friendship, and more importantly a person that can help me out with my son or daughter.

God knows I'll need a lot of help balancing everything...
