Nah, don't worry about it. 1K isn't even an accomplishment to me, lol. The only posts I reserved were the ones on the front page.

So after completely blowing my front tire out on my car Friday afternoon, working 3-11 a few hours after that, getting five hours of sleep, going back to work 7-3, then buying a new set of tires for my car, putting them on, and finally driving an hour to watch two of my best friends race at the Cumberland, MD dirt track last night...I finally found some time to work on an update, lol.

It should be up before I leave for work, 3-11.

The Underdog Role

The campus was buzzing after our win over Minnesota. Not many analysts thought that the bottom-feeder of the Big East would defeat one of the middle teams of the Big Ten. In fact, some analysts said that Penn State should be on upset alert. Kirk Herbstreit and Lee Corso added fuel to the fire with their comments on College Football Live.

"What a win by the Orange huh? Despite a first quarter pick six thrown by new starting quarterback Greg Paulus, I was impressed by how well they controlled the ball. Delone Carter had over 100 yards rushing for the victors, and Paulus's main target was the star freshman Ethan Woy."

"And how about that Woy kid? The freshman made the Minnesota secondary look awful out there with seven catches for just about 100 yards and a touchdown."

"He did play really well but I don't think he'll do that against a great Penn State team."

"Not so fast my friend! How many players in the secondary is Penn State returning? Zero. AJ Wallace might have his work cut out for him covering this man. I'm putting Penn State on upset alert tomorrow, even in Happy Valley. Remember Julio Jones, AJ Green, and DeAndre Brown last year? Bold prediction, Woy ends up having a better freshman year than all of them. And he'll prove me right when he puts up good numbers to lead Syracuse in an upset of the Nittany Lions."

Those words from Lee spread throughout the campus and made the buzz, a swarm. I had classmates and other students asking me if we could beat Penn State, and reporters would try to get a word with me after every break in practice. Parties were thrown to celebrate our win and the big game against Penn State, but I decided not to go of any of them. I had good reasons though.

"So, are you nervous about Saturday?"

"Me, nervous? Nah."

"Babe, I remember the State championship and how nervous you were then. You probably could have been baptized in your own sweat."

"Not funny."

"Yes funny."

"Well pressure from all the students here doesn't make me feel better."

"True. Just go and play your heart out. Everything else will fall into place."

"But what about Greg?"

"What about him?"

"You have no clue how close I was to blowing up on him when he threw that interception the first play. What if he does the same thing again Saturday?"

"Just keep your cool. You have to remember, he's a rookie out there too. Not everyone is as impressive as your at their first glance."

The way she worded that make me raise an eyebrow.

"So you thought the same when you met me?"

"Obviously. Maybe that explains this."

She pointed to her stomach, which I could notice was getting bigger.

"Wow. I'm still in shock that I'll be a father in about five months."

"You still want to keep it right?"

"Yes, I'm not making the same mistake twice."

Those words slipped out of my mouth, and I didn't even notice it until I saw the look on her face.

"Wait, what do you mean by 'the same mistake twice?'"

"Nothing, I meant that 'I wouldn't make that mistake.'"

"Sure?"

"Yes, just worded it wrong."

I dodged a bullet there, and I'll probably have to dodge more bullets as I'll have my work cut out for me Saturday. Penn State's going to be pissed about being called out by Lee, so I'm expecting a rough night in Happy Valley...

Not So Happy Valley

Woy's Word
It was a rainy Saturday night in State College, and yet it was still as loud as it was back when I was in the crowd. The Nittany Lions won the toss and decided to receive. That would be the first of many things that didn't go our way during the game. Daryl Clark cut through our defense like a double-edged sword on the opening drive, throwing and running the ball down the field, before Evan Royster punched it in to make it 7-0 Penn State.

There was promise on our first drive, as Delone made his way down the field basically by himself before Greg blew it by throwing a pick on a pass intended for Mike Williams. Immediately, I could tell I would be in for a long day, as senior cornerback A.J. Wallace was matching me step by step on every route. I thought I'd be open and as soon as the ball would be near me, he would end up batting it down.

Greg continued to throw interceptions as Clark and Royster would take advantage with multiple touchdowns. Delone finally put a dent on the scoreboard late, with a 11 yard score, but the damage was done by then. Luckily, Rodney didn't set too high of goals for me, as he knew we were playing one of the top teams in the nation.

Don't play them anymore, last year was the first year of a home and home deal. I do play more big-name opponents though later on during my career.
