Tutoring

After our boring win over Maine, I made the most of my Sunday by sleeping and hanging out with Melyssa. Monday, like always brought me no classes, so I was going to sleep again all day when I got a call around noon.

"Hello?"

"Aren't you forgetting something?"

"What?"

"Tutoring, remember? You promised me twice a week."

Damn, I did forget about that.

"On a Monday?"

"Yeah. I know you don't have classes and I fortunately lucked out of them too. Be over here in half an hour."

"Okay."

Why did I agree to this again?

I drove over to her apartment and knocked on the door. Expecting something like the newest Victoria's Secret lingerie on her, I was surprising when she greeted me at the door with her hair pulled up, sweatpants and a Syracuse football tee.

"It's about time. Come on in."

I made my way through the door and noticed pictures of the Syracuse football team around the room. There were team pictures and some individual ones, including...

"So you're a major fan, huh?"

I picked up a picture of me hauling in a touchdown against Northwestern a few weeks ago.

"Yeah, I guess you can say that."

I raised my eyebrow as she playfully punched me in the arm.

"I take pictures for the school paper. Photography major, remember?"

"Oh yeah, of course."

"Yeah so don't think I'm a groupie. I don't want to sleep with you that bad."

Again, I raised my eyebrow when she said that.

"Okay, just forget I said that."

"Yeah, let's just get to studying."

She opened her book and we went to work. I didn't take a math course this year but I could still remember mostly everything from Calculus. I loved math as a kid but as the years went on, I started to hate it. Doesn't mean I wasn't still good at it though.

"Okay, now I get it."

"You sure?"

"Yeah, sounds a lot simplier when you explained it."

"So no more tutoring then?"

"Of course I'm going to need more tutoring. You can't expect me to remember everything after one session, right? Plus you need a reason to get out of your dorm."

"Then I go to Melyssa's dorm."

"When are you going to leave her?"

"Umm, one - I'm in love with her. And two - she's pregnant with my child."

"You know that I want you right?"

"Obviously. I figured this tutoring thing was just a ploy to get with me."

"So why did you say yes?"

Why did I say yes? I'm still trying to figure this out myself.

"Honestly, I don't know. I don't want to cheat on Melyssa - I'm so happy with her. But there's just something about you, just something...something that intrigues me. Makes me wanting to find out more about you."

She leaned in to kiss me but I pushed away.

"Uhh...I've got to go."

"Like I said, whenever you want to leave her, you know the number."

I made my way out the door, not knowing why I said that to her.

I'm starting to think the more I avoid Britt, the better. But of course, that won't happen with this whole tutoring thing...
