No update today. I have a paper due tomorrow and although it isn't that tough, I fucked up on that update and need to start making sure I'm satisfied with the next update before posting it.
Shots fired. Total chaos. Numerous people wounded. One man shaking in fear. And one man running towards the exit. All of destruction happening within a few minutes, as the night to celebrate Everett's biggest star has turned to one of tragedy.
Police were called right away as they went after Rodney on a high-speed chase. The frightened star didn't feel any pain and went to thank the man who basically saved his life.
However, someone pointed him in the direction of a player down, clutching his leg.
"I thought all the players went down to the locker room at halftime..."
As Koontzy moved everyone out of the gymnasium, announcing the cancellation of the game in the progress, I continued to walk over the mysterious player. The closer I got, the more familiar the guy looked until my heart dropped when I realized who it was.
"Evan!?"
"Ethan? Wha..what happened?"
The pain in his voice was unbearable and a tear fell from my eye. How could a moment so horrible bring him closer to someone that idolized him? Even though the horror of hearing gunshots was over, the horror of possibly losing his brother was just starting to settle in.
"Don't talk, we need to get you to the ER right away."
"Why did this hap...happen?"
"Shhh, listen to your brother. I'm getting you to that hospital now."
"But the game..."
"They cancelled it."
"There should be some...someone coming for me."
"I can get you to that hospital faster than those fuckers can. Tell you what - you stop talking and settle down and I'll tell you a secret, alright?"
"Yeah...okay."
"Good. Now hang on."
I took off my shirt and ripped one of the sleeves off of it. Wrapping it around the wound, I then proceeded to pick Evan up over my shoulder as I was going as fast as I could out the door. Once arriving at my car, I carefully placed Evan in the passenger seat, fastened him in tight, and sped off onto the highway and towards the hospital.
It's a really good thing that the hospital is in Bedford. With no intentions of slowing down for cops, I made it to the neighboring town within 15 minutes. I didn't care about fines at this point, so I parked in one of the handicap spots closest to the ER's front door. Unbuckling Evan's seatbelt and putting him over my shoulder again, I quickly opened the door and got to the counter.
"We have an emergency! My brother suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and it's lodged in there deep! Someone!"
"Doctor Marshall! We need you now!"
A younger doctor and a few nurses bursted out of the room with a stretcher. I helped them put Evan on and as they took my little brother off into the first room.
"We gotten word of more shootings Mister...Mister..."
"Woy. Yeah, and?"
"This is going to be total hell in here. So we can't let you stay. I'm so sorry."
Tears started to fill my eyes as I walked out of that room, not knowing if I would ever see my little brother again. Rodney might have not taken my life, but he possibly has taken one of the most important people out of my life...so he got his payback. As I depressingly walked to my car, I perked my head up to hear sirens and see red and blue flashing lights coming my way.
