Syracuse Orange (3-3) at #14 Rutgers Scarlet Knights (4-1)
Thursday night football on ESPN2 and a chance to make a statement against one of the Big East favorites and nation's top 15 teams. We needed this game and came out to a chorus of boos by the Rutgers faithful.
Ryan found me early for a deep 75 yard touchdown and it seemed like we had all of the momentum. However, Mohamed Sanu took the kickoff back all the way to tie the game and it took the wind right out of our sails.
28 unanswered points later, we were down 35-7 with two minutes left in the game. Ryan found me again for a touchdown and we recovered the onside kick and scored again to make the final score look more respectable. The score lies though; we got dominated.
Pittsburgh Panthers (2-4) at Syracuse Orange (3-4)
Another match-up that I couldn't get out of my mind last year. I remember the disbelief of seeing Breann in the stands with Dan, the countless drops, and most importantly, the text message that got me into a situation I will regret for the rest of my life. Lately, Ryan has been throwing the ball well and hasn't turned it over as much as Greg did last year, but after thinking that before the game, I must have jinxed him.
He came off completely flat. I counted three overthrows on passes intended to me, where I was open in space to make something happen. On top of that, he threw four interceptions, including a pick six to seal the game.
Dion Lewis ran around and through us to the tune of 212 yards and three touchdowns and when the final horn sounded, I walked off the field 0-2 against the team I hated the most as a child. But as soon as I showered and got changed to get back on the bus, I received a text message that would completely turn around my mood...
I don't plan on waking up till about 12-1ish tomorrow, then I'll most likely eat and lift, then eventually get ready to work at the RMU/Monmouth game. So we'll see if I can get an update tomorrow, if not, definitely Sunday.
Its pretty clear if Syracuse wants to win they need to either directly snap you the ball on offense or you start pulling double duty and play saftey on defense
