The Pacers are 20-14 and on a six match win streak , everybody is happy surely? No , not everybody . First it started with whispers , today it spiralled into all out attacks from Pacers forward Mike Dunleavy against the coaching staff and everything Pacer related . "I should be starting nevermind riding the bench . I get less minutes a game than Nicholas (Batum) , Brandon (Rush) and Rashad (McCants) . That's funny to me" Dunleavy also went on to question the coaches . "You know the coaching is funny around here . Me and Danny (Granger) break Reggie Miller and Detlef Schrempf's duo scoring record last year and now I'm sitting on the bench . I see us losing games and I just laugh . The coach has no clue at times" .
Dunleavy somehow fails to notice that the Pacers are at their best record in three years and beating teams who are constant playoff outfits (Orlando) . The Ex-Duke stars minutes have went from 17 MPG to 7 mpg with the improved performance of Brandon Rush and young stud Nicholas Batum .
When asked about being traded Dunleavy replied with the following .... "I would like that alot right now . I love the fans here but if you aren't going to start me . Just trade me" I know I will have alot of intrest in the market" . How true this statement is from Dunleavy is yet to be seen as the Pacers haven't even thought about dealing him at this point with his massive contract that still has another two years to run .
Well folks it only took the small matter of four hours for Pacers GM Larry Bird to comment about Mike Dunleavys recent attacks against the Pacers . "This is the most selfish thing I have seen in all my time at the Pacers . We are 20-14 and we are packing the games out like the good ole days and he does this . What can I say? I didn't expect this from a guy who normally comes across as mild mannered and nice". Bird was visibly upset in his press conference and clearly did not expect to be talking about negatives during a week in which the Pacers had won 4 out of 4 games .
When asked if he would entertain trade offers Bird replied with .... "It's something I will look at more seriously now for sure . I can't allow this sort of selfish acts from members of the Indiana Pacers". Throughout the interview Bird tried to get away from the subject by mentioning how well the team is doing but he was constantly hounded with questions and his anger was rising with every probing question . "I would have liked to deal with this internally but what can I do now? Nothing . Me and Mike will talk tomorrow about it and see if he has a future"
It would appear that fans have chosen to side with Bird on this one . Looking at the official Pacer boards it's very obvious that they want Dunleavy gone
