Bird Lets It Be Known, Noone Is Untouchable

In a press conference held lastnight by the Pacers after their loss to the Pistons, Pacers GM Larry Bird went on to to release this statement:

"Make no mistake, everybody is in play right now," said Bird. "There are no sacred cows here. You lose that sacred cow status when you miss the playoffs."

It was the first time the Pacers missed the playoffs in 10 years.

It's not often you see a GM put his entire team on the block, but Bird obviously wants to get the word out -- both to his players and other GM's -- that he'll do anything to improve his team.

Sources tell us that Bird is aiming to aqquire young talent to develop around Danny Granger and expiring contracts to make noise in free agency in upcoming seasons.

Good to see Granger getting a healthy amount of time at the FT line. Looks very realistic so far. Keep it up.

Granger Named Eastern Conference Player Of The Week

Indiana Pacers forward Danny Granger was named the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week, as it was announced Monday by the NBA.

Granger averaged a balanced 30 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists while shooting 45% from the floor for the week ending Nov. 1.

“It’s wonderful for Danny to be recognized for his contributions to the team this past week,” said Pacers GM Larry Bird. “Unfortunately, we were unable to get wins in the past two games this week but we did go up against championship contenders in the Pistons and Celtics. Danny's gutsy play down the stretch and his well-rounded, team-first approach to the game has really opened up eyes around the league though."

Other nominees for the honor were Lebron James and Kevin Garnett.
