Quote Of The Game:
"We caught it from all angles tonight. Hasheem was just a one man wrecking crew out there. They shot over 50% from beyond the arch on us. And to top it all off, Danny went down with a serious injury. Do you think I'm in the mood to have all these god damn cameras in my face right now?" - Rasheed Wallace

THABEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET

The Diagnosis Is In, And It Is Grim
The Pacers injury bug stuck down one of their pillars lastnight when forward Danny Granger strained his right achilles tendon in the 3rd quarter of the Pacers loss to the Dallas Mavericks. Pacers officials have said Granger will miss close to 4 weeks, which means Granger will return to play before All-Star Weekend 2010.
Granger fell awkwardly on his right ankle after a layup attempt against Dallas' Josh Howard only a couple of minutes into the 2nd half. Howard gave Granger a bit of a nudge on his way up and Granger rolled onto the floor clinching his ankle in obvious pain.
''It's just unfortunate,'' Pacers Coach Jim O' Brien said. ''We just have to look forward to getting him back. He just went in for a layup, landed oddly and he is out for a while. We've just got to pick up the pieces.'
Teammate Jamal Crawford said as soon as he saw Granger fall, he knew something was wrong. ''I kind of thought it was bad, the way he was holding his leg,'' Crawford said. ''He didn't twist it or anything. All of his weight just came down.'''
Granger had an MRI at the arena. ''He was disappointed, I can tell you that much,'' Crawford added.
For the first time in his career, Granger is amongst the names being thrown around for the NBA's coveted MVP award, helping the Pacers to a solid 20-12 start. Good enough for the #3 spot in the Eastern Conference. Granger is currently averaging over 25 points, 6 rebounds and assists per game and just over 1.5 blocks and steals a game.
O' Brien would not say that the Pacers are snake-bitten. ''I'm still not looking at it that way,'' he said. ''You've got to play with what you got. We are a much deeper basketball team this year. We'll just throw some different guys in there and see if we can go without him. You can't really replace him, he's a very valuable part of our team. Hopefully two or three guys can do the work of Granger.''
Anthony Randolph will start in the place of the injured Granger in the Pacers upcoming game against the Rockets.Last edited by mfbmike; 04-12-2009, 08:27 PM.Comment

Quote Of The Game:
