Game 13, Year 1: Cincinnati Bengals (0-12) at Minnesota Vikings (7-5)
Note: The following is a brief summary of the Bengals' December 13th game at Minnesota. Normal full-scale reporting will be reinstituted at the conclusion of the 2009 season.
21 -- 0-13
45 -- 8-5
Summary: After only a 3-0 first quarter deficit the Cincinnati Bengals fell apart in the second quarter and allowed the Vikings to take a 31-7 lead going into the half eventually losing 45-21 Sunday at the Metrodome. Vikings RB Adrian Peterson amassed 131 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns and QB Sage Rosenfels threw 4 touchdown passes for the Vikings however the star of the show was rookie WR Percy Harvin.
Harvin, the team's first round pick out of Florida, grabbed 7 receptions for 164 yards and a touchdown, mostly in the first half. He also gave the Bengals fits in the return game, averaging 35 yards per kickoff return and 14.8 yards per punt return.
Cincinnati was able to cut their halftime deficit to 31-21 when rookie DE Michael Johnson sacked Rosenfels and forced a fumble which was recovered by rookie MLB Rey Maualuga and returned 16 yards for a touchdown midway through the third quarter.
The score would be the Bengals' last as Peterson would then score two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
Cincinnati (0-13) will now travel to face San Diego (8-5) next week on the road still in search of win number one.

You have to look at some of the positives. Brandon London continues to be a solid contributor and looks to be making a case for next season. Maualuga has also been better since moving to the MIKE.
Harvin absolutely went off though. Sage tossing four touchdowns is nothing new - that seems to be the AM standard for a CPU quarterback. I wasn't surprised when Brees went off on me, but, when Jason Campbell did I was a little shocked.Maddon & Friedman: Pissing off the AL East since 2008

Lewis: 46-62-1 overall record
SOURCE: BENGALS INFORM LEWIS THAT HE WON'T BE BACK IN 2010
Seventh year head coach to be allowed to coach team's remaining three games | Bengals already having internal discussions regarding potential replacements | House-cleaning after dreadful season comes as no surprise
By Adam Shefter, ESPN
In what many would say is one of the least shocking events of the 2009 NFL season, the Cincinnati Bengals have decided that they will be parting ways with head coach Marvin Lewis at the conclusion of the 2009 season, according to sources close to the team. Lewis, in his seventh season at the helm of the franchise, has compiled an overall record of 46-62-1 during his time in Cincinnati and is on the cusp of going winless this season.
With one year remaining on his contract and only one playoff appearance during his tenure, Lewis' prospects for returning in 2010 were already bleak. When the team hired a new general manager, D.Geezy, just prior to the 2009 preseason, the writing was on the wall for Lewis. Starting the season 0-13 was the final nail in the coffin and is undoubtedly a record that would be difficult for any coach to overcome and hold onto their job.
The same sources also indicate that Lewis is already informing some coaching staff members that they should begin to look for future positions elsewhere immediately.
Neither Lewis nor the team would confirm the reports. The team did however release this statement:
"Marvin Lewis is under contract through the 2010 football season. The organization's focus at this juncture is our upcoming game in San Diego and coach Lewis has our full support as we try to finish the 2009 season on a high note."
Lewis became the ninth coach in Bengals history on January 14, 2003, when he was hired to replace Dick LeBeau, who was fired after the worst season in franchise history. The Bengals finished 8–8 in each of their first two seasons under Lewis, recording a non-losing season for the first time in seven years. In 2005, Cincinnati recorded an 11-5 record, winning the AFC North division and making the playoffs for the first time in 15 years. Despite setting multiple franchise records in the regular season, however, the Bengals lost to the rival Pittsburgh Steelers, 31-17, in the wild card round, after starting QB Carson Palmer went down with a knee injury on the second play of the game.
The Bengals have not returned back to the playoffs since 2005 and have gone a dreadful 19-41-1 over the subsequent three-plus seasons.

Brandon London is a solid lock to be back next season. I'm looking forward to see his career progress.
I'm hoping I could get a win or two to get some momentum going into next season. Thanks for checking in!
I got some things cooking for next year though.
I have about 5 guys in mind right now.
