Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the Cincinnati Bengals have scheduled a visit with Chargers free agent TE Brandon Manumaleuna (70 overall). Manumaleuna has spent the past four seasons with the San Diego Chargers after spending his first five seasons with the Mike Martz-led St. Louis Rams. At 6-2 288 pounds, the former fourth round pick in 2001 is considered one of the top run blocking tight ends in the NFL and is also capable of filling in at fullback.

Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the Cincinnati Bengals have scheduled a visit with Steelers free agent WR Shaun McDonald (71 overall, 92 speed). McDonald spent last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers after starting his career with Mike Martz and the St. Louis Rams in 2003. After spending four seasons with the Rams, the former fourth round pick followed Martz to Detroit in 2007 and posted career highs in catches (79), yards (943), and touchdowns (6) during their one season together in Detroit. If signed, McDonald would provide the Bengals with a deep threat that they sorely lacked in 2009.

Thanks man. It definitely was a bummer missing out on him but I guess this game wouldn't be much fun if you could sign everyone you want.

Congrats on getting Harrison. His speed should be an asset in the backfield. With the way last year played out it seems that CedBen is in for a fight to stay on the roster. I wouldn't be shocked if both Scott and Harrison just fit better in your new system and play better overall.

Sorry to hear about Clark. Would've made for a cool story line, but, it just wasn't meant to be. Looks like he took substantially less money from Chicago. He may want to win right away rather than be in that rebuild mode for a year or two.

Looks like Bannan and Edwards will be seeing a lot more PT than they did in Baltimore. I love that you are signing players that were once division rivals. Almost like taking them out of a situation that stunted their growth and giving them an opportunity to start and get more PT.

As for FWP to the Pats...well...the rich just get richer lol. Looking forward to see how the rest of free agency works out for you. You are definitely making some educated decisions on who to bring in. I can't tell you how engrossing the off-season period can be. I spent the late morning and early afternoon really "scouting" attribute ratings for guys that could fit my system and if their low OVRs are due to poor ability or a really low rating in an area or two. Gotta say...there are a lot of guys out there in the madden universe that could be really good if they just got a chance to see the field and play so they could progress. I currently have my eye on a lineman from Green Bay and a linebacker in Kansas City that have low OVRs but look to be dominant if they got to see the field.

Loving the updates. I practically check every hour just to see if you've put anything new up!

A lot of the free agent movement within the division has been pretty interesting. It is always fun weakening a rival, it would have been even more fun getting Clark. Even though I am upset about not getting him, at the same time I am excited. It should be tough signing top players like that. It got to the point where he was no longer even accepting offers from me; That's awesome.

Hopefully I can find some more undiscovered talent over the last 19 free agency days remaining. I still have 18 roster spots to fill between free agency and the draft.

You're right man, the off-season is the best part of this game. I am enjoying it more than the actual season (I guess that doesn't take much considering how that went for me haha)

Just trying to keep it somewhat realistic. Sure any team that went 2-14 is going to get blown up, but I want to make sure each free agent signing is realistic and makes some sort of sense as far as the story line of the franchise and the on-the-field scheme.

I like bringing in Manumaleuna. He's big, probably has a good strength rating and can actually catch the football. Shaun McDonald will probably have a place on the team based solely off his speed - returning kicks, punts, etc.

Hopefully Martz doesn't want to bring in Adam Archuleta though...that probably wouldn't work out - lol. I really like the additions of Bannan and Edwards though. I can honestly say I considered both of them for my 'chise as well. I think Edwards will probably end up being the better player, but, you have some serious strength on the line. Peko, Sims, Edwards and Bannan. Michael Johnson will provide a nice speed rush if his block shedding rating is high enough.

Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the Cincinnati Bengals have re-signed G Bobbie Williams (72 overall) to a 1-year $1.8 million contract which includes $720k in guaranteed money. Williams was a starter for the Bengals last season at right guard but is in the decline phase of his career. He may be more suited for a reserve role at this stage however Williams provides adequate insurance in case the team cannot find a suitable replacement.

Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the Cincinnati Bengals have released DE Antwan Odom (73 overall). The move saves the team approximately $5.74 million off the salary cap. The move comes just days following the team's signings of free agents defensive ends Justin Bannan and Dwan Edwards from the Ravens. Odom was a major disappointment after signing a 5-year $30 million contract during the 2008 off-season and has registered just 3 sacks in two seasons.

"Brandon is one of the top in-line blocking tight ends in the game today and was a quiet centerpiece of our offense for years in St. Louis," said Rams head coach Mike Martz who drafted and coached Manumaleuna for five seasons in St. Louis. At 6-2 288 pounds with 68 rbk rating, Manumaleuna should help Cincinnati improve it's ground game in 2009.

Bengals.com reports that the Cincinnati Bengals have signed free agent WR Shaun McDonald (71 overall). McDonald, at 5-10 170 pounds, brings tremendous speed to the Bengals receiving corp and should provide QB Carson Palmer with a vertical deep threat that was sorely missing in 2009. McDonald has spent 5 of his 7 years as a pro in Mike Martz's system, both with the Rams and with the Lions. He caught a career-high 79 receptions for 943 yards and 6 touchdowns in Detroit when Martz was the offensive coordinator there in 2007.

Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the Cincinnati Bengals have a visit scheduled with middle linebacker John Digiorgio (71 overall). The fourth year pro out of Saginaw Valley State spent last season with the Chicago Bears after being waived/injured by the Bills just before the 2009 season. DiGiorgio posted a career-high 113 tackles as the Bills starting middle linebacker in 2007 but played in only 3 games after suffering a knee injury in 2008.

Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that the Cincinnati Bengals have a visit scheduled with middle linebacker Matt Wilhelm (65 overall). Wilhelm, 6-4 245 pounds, spent 7 year career with the San Diego Chargers and before playing for the Phildelphia Eagles in 2009. Wilhelm, who played mostly special teams before becoming a starter in 2007 following the departure of former Charger Donnie Edwards, posted career-highs in 74 tackles and 3 interceptions that season. His numbers dropped in 2008 however & Wilhelm was released by San Diego during training camp in 2009 and signed by Philadelphia two weeks later, where he spent the year playing special teams.

The deal is done now on Manumaleuna. Pretty excited about his addition. He has the third best pass block rating for TEs (62) and the 7th best run block rating (68). He can also play fullback which will come in handy should something happen to Hester since I'll only keep 1 FB. Brian Leonard, who was valuable for his RB/FB versatility, is now on the bubble.

I'm pretty exicted about this free agent class. I think I have found some gems and they're all very versatile players.

The Cincinnati Bengals have completed their free agent signings for the 2010 pre-draft portion of the off-season. In total, the team hauled in 11 new players. Of the 11 new signees, the team's biggest signings are OLB Pisa Tinoisamoa, who is projected to start at linebacker and Browns RB Jerome Harrison, who should contribute at running back and possibly on special teams.

The team also improved it's depth along the defensive line, signing DE/DT Justin Bannan and DE Dwan Edwards, both from division rival Baltimore. Each should help with the team's transition into a multiple defense, which will give heavy 3-4 looks.

The Bengals signed several players that have been affiliated with new Bengals head coach Mike Martz. TE Brandon Manumaleuna, Tinoisamoa, WR Shaun McDonald, and WR Mike Furrey all played for Martz as St. Louis Rams and in the case of McDonald and Furrey, flourished under Martz's system in Detroit as well.

"We wanted to fulfill as many of our needs as possible so that we can go into the draft and not have to reach for any particular player," said Bengals G.M. D.Geezy.

"I feel like we did just that and got several players who will come in and compete for starting jobs and hopefully contribute in getting us back to the playoffs. We also thought it was important to find guys with tremendous character and good, blue-collar work ethic.

"Rome was not built in a day and I don't believe that you can necessarily buy a championship. The key in free agency is to find the best value for your dollar and not over-spend on any particular player. That has backfired more times than not on teams that do that."
