Bills Press Conference
Dick Jauron: Yesterday afternoon, during the game with the Miami Dolphins WR/KR Roscoe Parrish suffered a fractured vertebrae in the middle of his back. Initially after sustaining the injury he had paralysis in both his legs and his arms. He has gone through several surgeries at Buffalo Memorial Hospital and doctors are hopeful that this paralysis is only temporary. Roscoe was not only an incredible football player but he was also an amazing person. The Bills organization, players, staff, and myself are behind Roscoe and his family and will be their support group through this very trying time. I am truly saddened by what has happened. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Roscoe and his family. As far as from a football standpoint, Roscoe will remain on our roster till the end of the season when he is expected to announce his retirement and file the proper papers with the league office. I would like now to open the floor to questions.
Russell Warner, from The Buffalo News
First I would like to ask, has there been any update on the condition of Mr Parrish?
As of this morning, doctors told me that they are through the first round of surgeries. His condition is stable at this time and the main concern is repairing the fracture in his spinal column. They did say that Roscoe had some feeling in both his finger tips and toes, which is very positive sign. They are hopeful with a few more minor surgeries and physical therapy he'll be able to walk again and function on his own.
How does the Bills organisation plan to respect the family and Mr Parrish himself after such a tough injury?
We are all behind Roscoe and his family. I know a couple of the players who were particularly close with Roscoe are at the hospital right now with his families. In terms of respecting the legacy Roscoe leaves behind as a Bills player, his number eleven jersey will not be worn again until further notice. It will be put in semi-retirement. What I mean by that is no player will be allowed to wear it until given permission by Roscoe and his family. It will be very similar to the way the Broncos handled Darrent Williams #27 jersey following his death.
What can we expect to see from the Buffalo passing offense, after what seemed to be an offense that had Roscoe having a lot of playing time?
Obviously we can never truly replace a player as talented and versatile as Roscoe. As of right now, CB Terrence McGee will handle the kickoff and punt return jobs. WR James Hardy will be elevated into the fourth wide receiver spot. We also have a short list of several free agent wide receivers who are trying out for the team. We will sign one before the next game to the active roster. That short list is Justin Jenkins, D'Juan Woods, Kenny McKinley, and Ashley Lelie. Our decision will be announced later in the week.
Also a little off the point here but how is Trent still the starting quarterback, with the injury to Roscoe and the change you are going to have to make with the offense shouldn't it be time for a change under center at Buffalo to?
Trent will remain the starting quarterback for the start of this game but on a very short leash. A large part of this is due to us not having another viable option out there. Fitzpatrick who started in our previous game against the Jets struggled too much for us to justify starting him. Trent knows his job is on the line and assured me this morning that he will play his hardest to keep it. There is a bit of a shuffle in our depth chart. Fitzpatrick will be the emergency quarterback while rookie Hunter Cantwell will serve as the back up. If Trent struggles early, we are confident that Cantwell can lead the offense.
Thank you all for your time. Please keep Roscoe and his family in your prayers."Cheese is a modern day badass" - BonesMahoneyComment

Prediction:
No one is really sure what to expect from the Buffalo Bills after their meltdown last week when WR Roscoe Parrish was rushed to the hospital. In the same week QB Trent Edwards was informed he could be pulled at any moment. It's nothing but questions in Buffalo. The Jets have been playing a lot better than their record indicates led by the strong play of rookie QB Mark Sanchez, who is the front runner to win the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award. I think the Bills just have too many questions. I don't think they can hold it all together against a strong Jets team. Jets sweep the series winning 31-17."Cheese is a modern day badass" - BonesMahoneyComment

Bills Drop Another: Lose to Jets at Home 22-14
Bills rookie QB Hunter Cantwell was injured on this play as he leapt into the endzone for a touchdown.
(4-8)- 22
(6-6)- 14
AP Buffalo- The Bills dropped their second game in a row losing to the New York Jets 22-14. The Bills struggled to find any consistency on offense as incumbent QB Trent Edwards once again had a tough time, throwing two more interceptions. The Bills benched Edwards midway through the second quarter in favor of rookie QB Hunter Cantwell. Cantwell didn’t have time to show much to the coaching staff as he was injured on his first drive when he leapt into the endzone over Jets CB Darrelle Revis. The injury does not appear to be serious and Cantwell should be back in practice on Monday. Edwards struggled to lead the offense in the second half. Bills HB Marshawn Lynch could get nothing going on the ground as he was held to just 36 yards. The Bills comeback attempts fell short despite a 4th quarter touchdown from HB Dominic Rhodes.
Jets rookie QB Mark Sanchez continues to impress as he played a near perfect game throwing for 188 yards and a score. Jets HB Leon Washington had a very impressive day both catching and running in a touchdown. The Jets will travel to Chicago to take on the division leading Bears (8-4). The Bills will try to halt their two game losing streak against the Chiefs (7-5) at Arrowhead Stadium.

Prediction:
The story line of this game has to be the enormous gamble by Bills HC Dick Jauron to start rookie QB Hunter Cantwell. While Edwards play has been terrible, to put it mildly, you have to raise your eyebrows a little at seeing Cantwell as the starter. Many NFL scouts say he will never be a starter in this league. He does have a cannon of an arm which may prove to be an advantage as the offense has struggled all season to get the ball downfield to explosive WR's Lee Evans and Terrell Owens. Owens had this to say before the game. "Man I came here to win. And how you goin' to win a game if you don't get TO the ball. That's just crazy." Well I think the Bills continue to be crazy as the Chiefs win easily. Expect a rough day for Cantwell. Chiefs win 24-10.Last edited by cheese2121; 01-09-2010, 03:43 PM."Cheese is a modern day badass" - BonesMahoneyComment

Cantwell Shines in NFL Debut Leading Bills to 37-27 Win Against Chiefs
Bills rookie QB Hunter Cantwell finds fellow rookie WR Kenny McKinley for a touchdown in the third quarter.
(7-6)- 37
(7-6)- 27
AP Kansas City- The Buffalo Bills downed the Kansas City Chiefs 37-27 led by their young rookie QB Hunter Cantwell. Cantwell, who was named player of the game, performed far beyond expectations in his first ever NFL start throwing for 237 yards, 2 touchdowns, and no interceptions. Bills fans knew their fortunes were going to change when on the first passing play of the game for the Bills, Cantwell found WR Josh Reed for a 58 yard score. The Buffalo coaching staff tried to rely heavily on the ground game to take the pressure off of Cantwell. Bills HB Marshawn Lynch did not disappoint as he carried the ball for 143 yards and added another 119 yards receiving. Bills HB Fred Jackson scored a 2 yard touchdown on his only carry of the game. The carry marks his first of the 2009 season after breaking his collarbone in the preseason. Recently signed Bills rookie WR Kenny McKinley scored his first career touchdown on a third quarter pass from Cantwell. Perhaps one of the biggest plays of the game for Cantwell came in the third quarter when on 3rd down and 6 Cantwell broke a would be sack from Chiefs DE Tyson Jackson and ran for the first down. Even though some throws were far from perfect, Cantwell showed gutsiness and a will to win all game.
For the Chiefs, HB Larry Johnson had a phenomenal game carrying the ball 18 times for 140 yards and a score. The Chiefs scored late as the clock expired to make this game appear closer than it was. The Bills will go back home to play the division leading New England Patriots (8-5) with playoff implications on the line. The Chiefs will stay at home against the lowly Cleveland Browns (5-8).
