lulz - I was typing the Akiyama title fight announcement as you posted that.

Fedor gets first crack at the title. However, with Overeem focusing on K-1 (storyline/quasi-real life story) I may have a interim title bout between Fedor and Velasquez or Dos Santos or Mir. We can work a Barnett vs Fedor matchup down the road...unless you have an idea how to work the HW division around? I'm open to suggestions...any and all.

Jacare and Sexyama? I'm so torn, but it should be a good one. If there is one thing I dislike about EA MMA it is the lack of special moves for Judokas. They don't have any special throws or trips at all.

I'd say run a 4-Man HW tournament between the rest of the contenders and winner faces 'Reem, but that's because I dislike interim belts.

Alvarez is patiently waiting for his shot at Melendez, why not have the winner of Aoki/Aldo face the winner of Melendez/Alvarez? Also it's time for Diaz to move back up to 185 to shut Mayhem Miller up since he doesn't have to worry about defending his title anymore.

UFC-Strikeforce 8: Mir vs Dos Santos

Mir TKO's Dos Santos. Aoki Submits Aldo

Mir stands over Dos Santos in TKO win (left); Aoki locks in the triangle choke (center); Le lands head-kick for flash KO (left)

            Recap:

Cung Le def. Nick Thompson via KO in 1st round
Cung Le landed his first strike attempt, a head-kick, that rocked Thompson. Le kept his distance, found his range and landed some kicks to the body before going upstairs and landing another head-kick which resulted in a KO victory for Cung Le.

Vladmir Matyushenko def. Renato Sobral via KO in 2nd round
This bout, between two wrestlers, found its way to the mat quickly. Sobral and Matyushenko were consistently working the ground in the first round with several reversals. Matyushenko was able to gain full mount early in the 2nd round and threw down a barrage of hammer-fists resulting in the KO victory for Matyushenko.

Shinya Aoki def. Jose Aldo via Submission by triangle choke in 2nd round
Aoki's Jiu-Jitsu was too much for Aldo to handle. However, Aldo looked as if he may finish the fight early in the 1st round when he had Aoki caught in the clinch and landed a few knees. However, Aoki was able to compose himself and survive the round. Aoki used his speed to pick his shots in the 2nd round and took the fight to the ground when given the chance. Once on the ground, Aldo was able to get into Aoki's guard. Aoki was able to lock in the triangle choke and pick up a big victory in the lightweight division. A victory which may earn him a title shot down the road.

Frank Mir def. Junior Dos Santos via TKO in the 3rd round
Dos Santos is considered one of the best strikers in the sport of MMA. Mir went toe-to-toe with him in the stand-up game. Mir also dominated the ground game and used some vicious ground-n-pound and control on the ground to soften Dos Santos up. Mir eventually landed a vicious right hook that put Dos Santos on his back. Mir quickly finished the fight with a barrage of strikes to the face to earn the TKO win.

With Aoki's impressive win against Aldo, he definitely deserves a shot.

                      Fight Announcement

Rampage Jackson vs Jon Jones Set for UFC-Strikeforce 10

Rampage lost his last fight to Rashad Evans. Jones' training partner at Greg Jackson's gym

Las Vegas, NV -- Rampage Jackson will finally get his chance to get back in the cage at UFC-Strikeforce 10 as he will be one half of the main event.

Standing across from Jackson - Jon Jones. Jones, a teammate of Rashad Evans, is looking to supplant himself as one of the best in the light heavyweight division. To do that, Jones will have to defeat a known bralwer and the heavy hands of Jackson.

For Jackson, this is a chance at redemption and to avoid a losing streak that could possibly push him further down the light heavyweight ladder.

"You know...I'm comin' off a decision loss to Rashad [Evans] and I need to re-establish myself as a dangerous man in this division." Jackson said during a conference call announcing the fight.

Jones, on the other hand, thinks Jackson's best days are behind him.

"Rashad [Evans] is a teammate of mine and I was in his corner for that fight," Jones said. "Rampage has slowed down with his hand movement and his reactions. He's a name and he sells fights. He doesn't impress me."

Strong words from Jones who usually isn't so brash. UFC-Strikeforce President Dana White called the fight a "no brainer."

"These two guys are perfect for each other," White said. "You've got a long-time veteran in Rampage Jackson coming off a tough loss to Rashad Evans. On the other end of the cage, you have a young guy who has proven himself and now has a shot to put his name among the title contenders."

White also announced that the evenings co-main event will be Wanderlai Silva against Pat Miletich.

The fight will be a part of the UFC-Strikeforce brand series of international events. UFC-Strikeforce 10 will take place live from Cologne, Germany.

Any update on this soon? I was looking forward to seeing the results of this card being a Jacare, Fitch, and Arlovski fan. I don't really care about the other fight but i'd rather have JZ win I think.

I actually finished the fight card today. Put all the fights on hard difficulty and had some interesting results.

I'll get some results up as soon as I can get to it. Still have to upload photos, etc.

                            UFC-Strikeforce 9: Souza vs Akiyama

                            Akiyama Captures Middleweight Title.

Akiyama celebrates victory (left); Arlovski puts Sapp in the clinch (center); Ribeiro scores a submission win (right)

                            Recap:

Yoshihiro Akiyama def. Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza via arm triangle in 1st round
Akiyama, a Judo specialist, came out with a very aggressive attack and overwhelmed Jacare early in the first round. Jacare was able to score a takedown and began working some ground-n-pound before Akiyama was able to score a sweep and reverse position. Once the fight was brought back to a stand-up position - Jacare landed a nasty combination which rocked Akiyama. Somehow, Akiyama was able to stay afloat and survived the onslaught. Akiyama was able to score another take down and locked in the arm triangle once in side-control to score the victory and become the new middleweight champion.

Jon Fitch def. Robbie Lawler via KO in 1st round
A surprising result to say the least. Fitch, known more for his wrestling ability, was able to score a knockout victory over boxer Robbie Lawler. Fitch took some combos on the chin early, but, his superior wrestling skills allowed him to get the fight on the ground where he eventually transitioned to full-mount and unloaded on Lawler to finish the fight just prior to the end of the first round.

Vitor Ribeiro def Gesias Cavalcante via armbar submission in 2nd round
Both fighters are accomplished BJJ artists and it showed with the number of sweeps and reversals displayed in the first round. However, Cavalcante likely won the first round as he was more successful in his striking. Ribeiro was looking to score the submission victory as he unsuccessfully attempted a triangle choke while Cavalcante was in his full-guard. Ribeiro was able to eventually lock in a armbar, which Cavalcante could not fight out of, to score the victory.

Andrei Arlovski def. Bob Sapp via TKO in 1st round
Not much of a fight. Arlovski was clearly the much better fighter with a more polished pedigree. Sapp attempted a few takedowns early which were unsuccessful. Arlovski was able to get Sapp in the Muay Thai clinch where he did some serious damage by scoring multiple knees to the face. Arlovski eventually finished the fight by recording the TKO late in the first round.
