Matteo scored the tying goal in the 76th minute, but his teammates were unable to hold Waghorn from scoring the match winner.

Should've, would've, could've doesn't score goals. Matteo had more than one opportunity to score goals - but the saves by goalkeeper, Riou, seemed to place the striker in a bind. That is why it was such a relief to see him score when the team needed it the most. Sadly, 7-minutes later - with Matteo off the pitch - Sunderland found the back of the net for the final time through Waghorn. You could tell Matteo was quite frustrated when he slammed his shin guarads on the pavement, and gave his Roy Hodgson a cold stare - could something be brewing between Matteo and Hodgy - is there trouble in paradise?

Pace. Well, another match - and another showcase of missed chances. Although Matteo played well, he seemed to hold onto the ball just a tad longer than he should have (of course when he scored it was okay). I think European football has kind of "shocked" Matteo in regards to the pace of play - and the Italian side today was a team that did not fool around with their tackles - that's why Matteo looked so relieve when he made one of them miss when he scored Fulham's first goal.

Matteo's header surprised all - in particular his height - but most of all the minute he scored the goal in.

Goals coming, needs work on dribbling. What the stats do not show was Matteo's tendency to lose the ball in this match. There were many occasions when he would just try to do too much. Even though he scored the important goal doesn't mean he can take over the match...especially with his dribbling.
