Sunderland really wanted someone named Gomez. I don't know much about GregVDW to comment but from the one game I watched at Le Parc des Princes, an upgrade on the back line should have them draw fewer matches against weaker opponents. And depending on the formation you run, more forward depth may be useful for the cups

Postgame Press Conference:
"To me, the final result of a friendly doesn't mean anything. That's the case today more than ever. The first goal came off a soft penalty in the box and the other came from a deflection off one of our players that fell perfectly to Valdo. He would've been offsides had it never been touched by one of our players. But, overall I thought we played extremely well. Higuain just joined the team yesterday, but didn't seem to have an issues connecting with his new teammates. Although they did give up two goals, I thought I defense played extremely well. Lugano was strong at the back and won both headers on the only two corner kicks in the game. His centre-back mate Sakho was the one who gave up the penalty. I thought it was a tough call, but maybe he was a little too physical in the box. Other than that he was caught out a few times trying to push a little too far up the pitch, but he recovered well. As for Levante, they also played well. They were organized at the back and blocked shot after shot. They also did a great job holding possession and capitalized when they had the chances. Next we have Man City and should be an interesting one. If we want to be considered one of the best in France, we must be able to compete with the best in England."

Postgame Press Conference:
"When you're playing a world class team like City, even when they mix in some of their bench player, they're still a world class team. I was hoping just to go out there and get some of our bench players out there, so they know what it takes to compete against the best. The first half I actually thought we were the better team. Hoarau blasted one off the post, Nene hit a bender that looked to have beaten Joe Hart, but it went just wide, and van der Wiel forced Hart to make a great save. In the second half City came out to play. They started to push higher up the pitch and Aguero capitalized first. Following Aguero, Tevez had two top class goals. However, I'm taking this one as a match to learn and build from. City is loaded up front, but we didn't sit back. van der Wiel did a great job of coming forward in support. Our two centre-backs got in there and blocked shots and took a few balls right off the feet of the City strikers. Next up we have Barcelona. After facing them it only gets easier. If we can repeat what we did today, I will not be upset."

John Obi Mikel makes the switch from London to Paris
July 27, 2012
PARIS – In an attempt to strengthen his defense, tbuc has brought in 24 year old, John Obi Mikel. The defensive minded midfielder spend five years at Chelsea adding up 123 appearances for the West London club before making the switch. Stuck behind Michael Essian on the clubs depth chart, Mikel seemed excited to join his new club where he’ll see much more time on the pitch. “I talked to my new manager this morning and he informed me that the holding midfielders role is mine,” explained the Nigerian international. He continued on, “I like the fact that this club is spending money this summer and looking to bring in some quality players. That tells me they want to win. I’m a very competitive person, so that is exactly what I want to do.”
Paris Saint-Germain has now brought in three new players into the club and are rumored to be done for the summer. With the likes of Higuain, Nene, and Menez up front, Mikel was brought in to add a little more quality to the defense. “We look at John Obi as a true number six. He can sit back and almost act as a fifth defender at times,” added his manger, tbuc.

Postgame Press Conference:
"It's tough to finish all three friendly matches without a win. I wasn't the one who choice who we played, but it was fun to see how we fared amongst the best in the world. As you can see we still have a lot of work to do. Barcelona is rated the top club team in the world and our players found out why today. The way their players controlled the ball and dictated the pace of the game is world class. We did a lot of chasing today. Our defense stood strong and it was unfortunate for Jallet who was called for that penalty in the box. I thought it was clear that he won the ball, but his trailing leg clearly took out David Villa who scored the PK as well. Up front Gameiro did a great job of helping out his midfielders and getting involved. That is something I would've liked to have seen Higuain do as well. Also, Pastore was very active as well. He had two chances to score, but put one just wide when Valdes was off his line and hit one on the volley that he put just over the bar."
