I was nervous, once Carmona hit 90 pitches it was so hard to grind out strikes, then the first two batters I faced in the ninth took 8 pitches a piece to sit down so I'm looking at pitch 110 when the final out came up to the plate, a second pitch pop-up for the out. Glad he didn't walk away injured!

      A Ben Francisco Treat!

Ben Francisco had a career day as the Indians spanked the Yankees.

AP - New York City, NY - The Clevelad Indians rolled the Yankees for their third straight and closed out the four game series in New York 3-1. It didn't come without some sobering experiences for the Indians. Mark DeRosa, acquired in the offseason started the year hot, and his 12 game hitting streak came to end hitting into fielder choices, unable to connect a base hit in five tries at the plate. He did the damage needed though as he tied the game at 3 a piece in the seventh on a passed ball, coming home for the run from third.

The story of the nigh wasn't the winning streak, or the snapping of DeRosa's hitting streak. It was Ben Francisco who delivered the fireworks early for the tribe. Francisco prior to the game was suggested to be moved from the bottom of the order to the top. Eric Wedge consulted with the batting coach and moved Francisco from 9 to 1, and took struggling Grady Sizemore from 1 to 9, flip-flopping the players.

"You know, at first you question a move like that, but it worked out, Ben got the pitches that a guy at the top of the order gets, and he blasted them. Can't say nothing negative about that, he's a big part of today's win." said Sizemore.

The Indians improve to 6-7 on the year after taking 3 of 4 from the Yankees. They're given a day off before a nine game home-stand, a place where they have yet to win a game this season, thanks to the Toronto Blue Jays.

              Series Preview:

              (5-7) @ (6-7)

The Cleveland Indians lead the season series 2-1.

              Division Standings

              Game 1:

              B. Bannister (1-1, 3.46 ERA) | A. Reyes (0-1, 4.97 ERA)

              Game 2:

              L. Hochevar (0-0, 3.48 ERA) | C. Pavano (0-1, 8.10 ERA)

              Game 3:

              K. Davies (0-1, 18.00 ERA) | C. Lee (1-1, 4.58 ERA)

              Key Bank's "Keys to Succes"

1.) Gain Seperation - The Indians have climbed out from the cellar and are getting ready to take on a nine game home stand. Winning at home is important. If they can win another series with the Royals that will get them seperation from Kansas City while getting them in place for Minnesota whose next on the schedule.

2.) Bullpen Strength - Not as strong in New York, it cost the Indians a sweep. Against Kansas City's lineup the Bullpen can get some work in and really improve their confidence as they head into a key series with Minnesota, now is the time to get ready for a eary division push.

3.) Division Placing - A theme for the "Keys to Success". Getting seperation from the Royals and gaining on the Twins before the Minnesoa series is key, jumping ahead May 1st-3rd is a three game series with the Central Leading Detroit Tigers. Now is the time to gain ground on the Tigers before the series with them.

                Welcome Home!

Fans in Cleveland celebrate the first home win!

AP - Cleveland, OH - The Bullpen Blues continued but the Indians were able to hold off the Kansas City Royals and pick up their first home win of the season. They were swept earlier this year by Toronto in a four game series that left the fans with a bitter taste in their mouth. Tonight the Indians delivered in front of the Tribe faithful with a 6-5 victory, and remained five games back of the Tigers who picked up a win earlier in the day.

Cleveland did not go without bruises though as Ben Francisco left the game sliding into second, tests were scheduled after the game, the results of the injury are due out tomorrow. Filling in for him in left field will be David Dellucci until Francisco is ready to come back.

Kerry Wood appeared on the mound for the first time since his second blown save in the ninth. He held off a high powered middle of the line-up and went against Gordon, who ruined his second save of the year back in Kansas City.

                The series continues tomorrow night.

Stat Correction: I broke the cardinal rule and didn't save my games from the Yankees series, turned off the PS2 early. So the games were erased, I did play them and the stories I gave were the truth. I simmed them and the Indians won game 3, 2-0, and game 4 2-1. So, for the sake of not playing them again the records match up now, the stats are going to be off. I apologize and realise this might bring down the "integrity" of my franchise. I hope you look past this mistake and continue to follow.

                    Injury Report:

AP - Cleveland, OH - Ben Francisco sustained an injury (Bruised Foot). It appears he will be out for a day or two. He's being placed on the bench and David Dellucci will take over at LF until he's healed. The Tribe will continue game two of their three game series with the Kansas City Royals, tonight.

                      Another Close One!

Kerry Wood appears to be getting on track, getting his sixth save in an Indians win.

AP - Cleveland, OH - One could describe the Kansas City Royals and the Cleveland Indians match-up as a boring affair between two ball clubs. A lot of defensive action and not so much offensive action. Such was the case as the Indians picked up their fifth straight win in beating Kansas City 3-2 in Cleveland.

Kerry Wood who has appeared to have finally gotten himself settled into the bullpen came on again in the ninth to deliver the save. There have been few mistakes by the bullpen now that we enter the later half of our first month. They all seem to start getting settled down but a usual crowd reaction wouldn't suggest that. Kobayashi hasn't appeared since his blown performance against the Yankees, fans actually started booing him when he was warming up in the bullpen. Eric Wedge sat him down the following inning and started getting Rafeal Bettancourt ready for work.

"Kobayashi is a good guy really, but to come into a hostile game, at home. You don't want that if your trying to build his confidence, especially in a game like todays. We were better off with Betancourt in the long run. He performed well only giving up a run, but you gotta give it to Carl Pavano today. The guy's stuff was on, he's the only reason we walked away with the win today."

When asked about the situation in left field and how Ben Francisco was Eric Wedge shined a little light. "Ben could of gone today, he wanted to go today. Foot injuries are serious business though. We've been looking at his foot every couple of hours, at game time it was good to go but I wasn't feeling the risk today, he'll be back tommorow. We'll see how he feels after that." SS Ryan Bloomquist left the game for the Kansas City Royals with a hamstring injury. Wedge was asked about that injury as well. "I don't make the decisions for Kansas City, but here we are, 15 games into the season, two weeks worth of baseball you'll start seeing guys tire and go down because of stuff, it's part of the game"

The series finale is tommorow, The Indians looking for the home sweep before playing the Twins in a three game series.

                        Tribe Completes The Sweep!

Mark DeRosa recieves high fives after his second homer of the season.

AP - Cleveland, OH - The Indians complete the sweep in what can only be called "The Mark DeRosa show." DeRosa refused to let the Royals spoil the home sweep and did everything he could do on offense and defense. He filled up the stat box today for the Tribe that secured the 4-3 win. Taking all three from the Royals and heads into a three game series with the Twins riding high on a six game winning streak.

"I was feeling it out there, I didn't want to let the guys down." Said DeRosa. "I got up to the plate and when I hit the ball I knew it was gone and it was time to round the bases for the first time in Cleveland, these fans are awesome, they make you feel like you belong here". As he remarked on his two run shot in the fourth.

The Indians' Kerry Wood had a scary moment in the top of the ninth when Miguel Olivo blasted a shot off of the left foul pole to pull the Royals within one. Great defensive plays by DeRosa and Grady Sizemore ended the run though. "I know these guys have my back and if I can put the ball on the ground there's no one better in the league to throw from third to first than Mark DeRosa, worked with him in Chicago and was glad to see him coming to Cleveland."

I'd recommend throwing your record somewhere into your updates. I'm curious as to how your team is doing but can't keep your win-loss memorized lol.

Sick work on the sweep though. Royals are garbage. :lulz:

Will do Mike, I thought about it myself as well, I was just throwing the record in the preview then playing the series, I think what I'll do is throw in a "next game" post under player of the game. I'll see where I can fit it in the updates. Good suggestion, thanks.

He was scaring me at first, couldn't hit the strike zone. After the second though he cruised, then Kobayashi came out and I thought it would be "dooms day". Glad to see your still following!

                              Division Standings

                              Game 1:

                              Key Bank's "Keys to Succes"

1.) No Easy Task - These are not the Twins your daddy told you about. Long gone are the days of Johan Santana and Torii Hunter. What did that mean to the Twins? They got closer to the playoffs without these two, last season only losing the division title to a tie-breaker against the Whitesox.

2.) Ride The Momentum - A six game winning streak has vaulted the Indians from fourth to second in the AL Central. With a chance to gain some ground above the Twins if they lose this game. Right now for teams 2-5 it's about staying on pace with the RED HOT Tigers who can't seem to lose.

3.) A Look Ahead - The Boston Redsox are waiting for the Indians next, games here are important should the Redsox of '07 show up to lay wood to the Indians. This will also lead up to a May showdown with the Tigers. Pick up at least a series victory here before moving forward.

                                On His Game!

Fausto Carmona looks to a higher power as he celebrates his shut-out in Cleveland.

AP - Cleveland, OH - As signs read "7th is Heaven" that closed out another chapter in the Indians season as they defeated the Minnesota Twins to take sole possesion of second place in the AL Central. Fausto Carmona delievered another stellar performance to add to his resume and the Indians walked away 2-0, the winners of their seventh straight game. Fausto spoke about his shut-out. "Looking at it, on the score sheet, it's not my first but it's hard to believe I tossed another one."

Eric Wedge was asked about his Tribe's surge in the middle part of this season, and what it meant to the ball club for the long run in the season. "Don't get in an uproar, we're not out of April yet. There is a lot of baseball left. It's helping us keep on pace with 'The Motor City Kitties' but that's about it. Two games above .500 now as we go further into this series, is great. But again, we're only in April."
