Got a message from the Man U chief executive before the Ivory Coast match saying that my job is under intense scrutiny. Apparently I didn't meet their goal of winning the league, winning the league cup AND reaching the Champions League semifinal. I don't know what else I could've done. I won the Champions League, finished second in the Premier League and reached the Capital One Cup final, and still might get fired. In the middle of me trying to manage a World Cup squad, no less. Just great.

Yeah, that's just unfair. You would never be canned in real life for playing as well as you did.

The summer transfer window is open. Our budget heading in is $59,000,000.

Other good news, the club has decided to keep me for the 2014/2015 season. Once again I have astronomical expectations.

                League objective: Win the league
Champions League objective: Win the Champions League
Domestic Cup objective: Win the Cup

Manager's Notes: Domination of Group H. Nobody really stopped us, but that could be a bad thing as walkovers like that aren't going to do a good job preparing us for the tough battles coming in the later rounds.

                      July 5, 2014 -

The window has been open for almost a week, and with the news that defenders Patrice Evra and Rio Ferdinand are retiring at the end of this season, we feel that it is necessary to get a defender in his prime. We made enquiries for Manchester City's Vincent Kompany, Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos, and Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels. We eventually made an offer of $52.5M for Hummels and are waiting on a response from Dortmund.

                            90' Goal, Angel Di Maria(ARG)

Manager's Notes: We got very lucky, missing chances left and right but still being in a position to win it late, and Angel Di Maria was able to get the ball close to an empty net and put it home to send us along. I may start Sergio Aguero or Gonzalo Higuain instead of Ever Banega against Italy to try to get an attack going, as one goal is not going to beat them and they have been very good defensively during the tournament, allowing one goal in the group stage and none in the elimination games.

Manager's Notes: These extra time games are killing me. Di Maria and Tevez were injured late, so I don't know if will have them for the final. It is likely that they will play. This game should have finished in regulation, were it not for a Lavezzi shot off the left post. Then in extra time, our defense got flat-footed and let Balotelli score to make it go to penalties. The game should not have gone past the 120th minute either way.

                              Quarterfinal Results:

                              Final:

Manager's Notes: I can tell you who Germany thinks was the man of the match. It's the linesman. Seriously, they might have gotten one offsides call right, and then the referee missed out on Marco Reus tripping the only defender who could've blocked the Hummels goal. I don't like to blame the referees for a loss, but I feel it necessary in this case, as it was frustrating to watch missed call after missed call as we couldn't get chances.

Germany has won the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
