Is He Ready?


Matt Wieters Has Been Impressive At The Minor League Level

Orioles' GM said he had a surprise for us at the end of the Angels series and he has finally announced it. At the end of this series in Toronto, the Orioles could be calling up Matt Wieters. He had impressive minor league stats so far this season, he has a batting average of .323, 3 doubles, 12 RBI's and 2 HR. Wieters could be the missing piece to the O's lineup that could get them on the winning end for once. Baltimore's current catchers, Gregg Zaun and Chad Moeller are not performing. Zaun is hitting .242 with only 3 RBI's in 18 games and Moeller is only hitting .125 in 6 games with 0 RBI's. "The only worry we have is that it could be too early and Matt is not ready." This is what Dave Trembley had to say about the situation. The way it would play out if Wieters does get called up would be Chad Moeller would be sent down to AAA and Wieters would start the first 2 games of the next series and Zaun would start the last game. If Wieters performs well then the O's will make him the starter for good. Do you think he's ready?
