Treanor leads off the 9th inning with a swinging bunt that just beat out the throw from Karstens. Despite being 0-9 (at that point), the guy was throwing a gem for whatever reason.

They take him out and I bring in Cabrera to pinch hit. BOOM! 2 run shot. I laugh my ass off. I'm up 2-1.

Went on to score 5 in the inning after being held to only 4 hits and no runs through the 1st 8 innings. There was a throwing error in there somewhere too. Fucking lulz.

rofl imagine being 0-9 on the year, pitching your best game of the year and in a position to win your first game of the year but instead dropping to 0-10.

Despite a quiet afternoon at the plate, Miguel Cabrera showed off some defensive prowess and turned two 3-6-1 double plays.

Porcello/Lohse Engage In Duel; Cards Walk Off In The 9th

                          (39-25) @ (36-30)

This was the scene before Rick Porcello's departure. Bases loaded in the 9th.

Detroit fell on the road to St. Louis and had their 4-game win streak snapped, mostly in part to poor baserunning. The Tigers were nipped by the Cardinals 1-0 before 36,048 fans at Busch Stadium. Detroit's Rick Porcello deserved better, having given up only 1 run (on 5 hits) in his 8 innings of work, be he took the loss, dropping his record to 4-5.

Game 2 is tomorrow night, and St. Louis fans must be nervous about their team having to face Tigers ace Justin Verlander (6-4 , 2.45 ERA), who will be opposed by Todd Wellemeyer (6-4 , 3.16 ERA).

                          Tigers Pitching:
                          Rick Porcello (L, 4-5) 8IP | 5H | 1ER | 1BB | 6SO | 3.41 ERA
                          Nate Robertson 0.1IP | 1H | 0ER | 0BB | 1SO | 3.93 ERA
