Rodney Does It Again; Tigers Take Series Opener In Houston

      (43-30) @ (50-22)

Gerald Laird congratulates rookie Ryan Perry on his 1st career save. Perhaps, the 1st of many to come.

The visiting Tigers and Astros went into extras in their interleague matchup tonight at Minute Maid Park, with Detroit eventually prevailing 3-2 in 10 innings. Josh Anderson launched a solo home run off the 1st pitch of the game and collected 2 other hits in the victory, including a double in the 10th that put Anderson into scoring position that led to the game winning RBI single off the bat of Magglio Ordonez. Dontrelle Willis pitched 7 shutout innings, but he didn't factor into the decision after Carlos Lee blasted a 2 run shot in the bottom of the 9th off of Fernando Rodney. However, in what doesn't seem like such a rare occurence anymore, Rodney was able to pick up his 3rd win of the season, after blowing the save.

The Tigers and Astros play game 2 tomorrow night, with Jeremy Bonderman (5-4 , 2.27 ERA) and Mike Hampton (7-3 , 3.19 ERA) the probable starters.

No idea how they are 50-23. But they are. lol. They might even be the winningest team in the league right now.

Tell me about it. He's descending back to earth apparently. He's been hitting 350 for the season, tearing it up but has slowed down drastically.

Magglio is now batting a better percentage and is about to catch him in RBI. I don't know what's going on. I got two solid hits with Miggy but their outfielders were able to make plays on the ball.

One should've been a homer but it went just left of that extended deck out in left field. Right where the outfield extends a little further out.

It's funny how I talked about breaking out of the long ball slump in the last series review.

Josh Anderson leads off the game and drills a homer on the 1st pitch so I'm thinking I was gonna kill shit in this game. Such was not the case.

At least Church got his first hit (and run) in a Tigers uniform. :D

Bonderman Gets Roughed Up, Astros Take Game 2

                        (44-30) @ (50-23)

Jeremy Bonderman could only hang his head after Lance Berkman blasted a 2 run shot that put the Astros out in front 5-2.

The Tigers ended up on the losing end of a 5-4 affair with the Astros tonight in Houston. Miguel Cabrera brought in 2 runs on a 1 for 3 performance at the plate in the losing effort. Jeremy Bonderman was the starter and loser, working 5 innings and allowing 5 runs on 7 hits in defeat.

Astros second baseman Kazuo Matsui suffered from shoulder soreness early in the contest and left the game early and is now listed as day to day.

The series will wrap up tomorrow afternoon, with the Tigers starting Rick Porcello (5-5 , 3.26 ERA) and the Astros turning to Russ Ortiz (3-2 , 3.81 ERA).

Didn't he hit like 7 homers one year as a pitcher? But yeah....I got my first base hit as a pitcher this year. lol. Bonderman drove one back up the box.

That game was rough. I had runners on the corners in the bottom of the 9th but couldn't bring Guillen home. Granderson 0-5....I guess playing him with a strained finger wasn't such a good idea. :y:
