                    Tigers Keep It Going; Pick Up 6th Straight Win

                    (56-35) vs (38-54)



                    The Tigers took care of the visiting Mariners at Comerica Park in front of 40,145 fans with a final score of 7-2, extending their winning streak to 6 games. Carlos Guillen collected 2 hits, including a home run and 3 RBI in 4 at-bats to pace the Tigers offense. It was another solid start for Justin Verlander, who went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs, to pick up his 8th win of the season.

                    Game 2 of the series is tomorrow night, as CY Young Candidate Edwin Jackson (9-1 , 3.11 ERA) will go for the Tigers against the Mariners Carlos Silva (7-8 , 5.18 ERA). Curtis Granderson will look to continue his 17-game hitting streak.

                              Mariners Only Give Up 3 Earned Runs As Errors Help Boost Tigers To 7th Straight Win

                              After going 0 for 3, Miguel Cabrera took out his aggression on a pitch in the 8th, blasting a solo shot for career home run #200.

                              Nothing seems to be going right for the Mariners this year as the Tigers delivered a 6-4 win for their fans tonight in front of 40,228 fans at Comerica Park. Carlos Guillen drove in 1 run on 3 hits including a triple. to help the club pick up the win. Edwin Jackson stretched his winning streak to 9, giving up 3 runs and 7 hits over 7 innings of work to collect his 10th win of the season. Miguel Cabrera was able to blast career home run #200 with a solo shot in the 8th.

                              The two teams will conclude their series tomorrow afternoon at Comerica. with Dontrelle Willis (7-1, 3.44 ERA) going for the Tigers against former Tigers prospect Chris Lambert (0-1 , 18.00 ERA) and the Mariners.
