Upon further inspection, this album is.......................solid. I ended up enjoying this more than I thought I would. I'm immediately reminded of Andre 3000's The Love Below. Production is ridiculous and Cudi's talent for song crafting and concepts shines. I really enjoy the sound of album and it's what makes the album for me. It's zone out music. I particularly enjoy the 'darker' sound this album takes. I was expected something more upbeat like his mixtape.

With that said, I have two problem with this album - Cudi can't rap. Cudi can't sing. That really lowers the ceiling on this album (and him as an artist) because there are a lot of times he's just fucking rambling on a beat a la Plies or Wayne. Lazy half-rhymes and more or less talking. Using a sports analogy, listening to Cudi is like watching a basketball player who is clearly skilled struggle simply because he lacks the athleticism and natural ability to keep up with his contemporaries. Fortunately, Cudi understands his limitations for the most part and stays in his lane, allowing the beats to lead the show - but there are times I can't help but wonder how better some songs would sound if he could sing or write better lyrics.

After the 1st listen I was a little disappointed, I'll give it another few listens & hopefully it will grow on me. The only song I thought was an instant classic was "Hyyerr" that's my shit.

I have yet to listen to the album but i just wanted to comment on something.

Despite what a lot fo people think on here Wayne can actually flow. I'm not bashing the review or anything because i enjoyed reading it but the Wayne part just caught me off gaurd. I' have plenty of Lil Wayne songs in which he really flows on the beat, now his flow is no where near as good as Lupe's or Chamilionairs but Wayne actually has some talent.

I never said that Wayne cannot flow, nor have I said he was not talented. Riding beats is actually one of his stronger points, but Wayne is NOTORIOUS for just rambling and throwing shit together. As many songs you can point to him displaying a phenomenal flow, I can point out quite a few where he's on some other shit going on and on about nothing in a half-assed manner. That was my point in regards to Cudi. Charles Hamilton does the exact same thing more often than not, but Wayne is more visible than Hamilton. Plies' entire discography is nothing but rambling, barely coherent garble.

Simply put, it wasn't some unnecessary dig at Wayne, so stop derailing a perfectly good thread with your paranoia just because you're overwhelmed by the hate for one of your favorite rappers and felt the need to lash out.

*returns focus of thread back onto Kid Cudi and his new album*
